We all know this all too well 🙏💙

Parents of autistic children don’t cancel plans because we can’t be bothered. Sometimes our child simply can’t cope.

We were looking forward to it too, we got ready, we made the plans and we might have spent hours preparing our child for what was coming.

Then something changes, maybe they didn’t sleep, maybe the morning started with a meltdown, maybe their sensory system was already overwhelmed before we even got out of the door. Or maybe we got there and quickly realised it was all just too much.

So we leave. Or we don’t go at all, and while somebody might think, 'we are always cancelling,' what they don’t see is a parent choosing their child’s needs over the fear of disappointing everyone else.

We’ve learned that forcing Ollie through something just so we don’t look rude isn’t fair on him and sometimes autism means plans change.

We’re not unreliable. We’re not antisocial. And we certainly can’t always just 'push through it.'

Okay whānau, we are on the final stretch of fundraising to help get our boys to the PDRL World Cup — with only six weeks until they leave Aotearoa.
We have been gifted a treasured One NZ Warriors jersey to raffle, and this one carries a very special story. It was sent with aroha to PDRLNZ Kiwi #14, Jeremy Hendrix Harris, when he was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, along with a message of care from our very own co-captain, Mitch Barnett.
This jersey is more than a prize — it is a taonga filled with mana, love, and the strength of our rugby league whānau. Now, it is helping our boys take their place on the world stage.

Every time the school holidays come around, parents ask us what activities or events are on in Auckland for their kids.

We're putting on some free indoor sports fun for our next Parent Support Group, with help from our friends at Disability Sport Auckland.

Bring the whole whānau and join us on Wednesday 30 September, from 10:30am to 1:00pm, at Mt Richmond Special School.

Disability Sport Auckland's programmes welcome people with physical, visual, learning and intellectual disabilities of all ages and abilities. No one needs to have played a sport before.

Check out Sense Rugby NZ!!!

Sense Rugby is an awesome organisation that provides opportunity for our kids to have a go at rugby without the added pressure of noise, unexpected change, shouting and what happens in the traditional game of rugby!

Kids get to explore equipment, have a go at things and participate in rugby at their level, time and space.

It’s a legendary organisation doing really cool things - totally recommend giving this a go!!

In the school holidays and next term here are some dates for Auckland…
