Stoked to be supporting the Bulls Wāhine rugby team with period products this month alongside 💚

In 2024, the legends at Sports NZ provided free menstrual products to 48 women’s sports teams across Aotearoa, with the aim of researching period equity in sport.

Since then, The Period Place has had a huge amount of enquiries for period products for Kiwi women’s sports teams.

When women don’t have to choose between buying period products and other essentials, and when they know their sports club has their back, they can focus entirely on their performance and enjoyment of the game 💪

Our day last Tuesday - well spent with the gals from Auckland Rugby’s Pro Sport programme! 🏉

There are six wāhine in the programme, and we donated each of them at least six pairs of period un**es to see them through a whole cycle - overnight, heavy days and light days, in a mix of styles. They even got to grab some activewear to try out as well, plus sports pads and wash bags. All the goods to keep them comfy and confident on the field 💪

Shout out to the legends at and for these period products - we bloody love ya! ❤️

Not sure which period product is right for you? Don’t worry - we’ve got ya 😘

Let’s talk about reusable period products vs disposable products. Reusables are a fantastic option - they’re more eco-friendly, they can last bloody ages if you look after them properly, and they can just be a more comfortable option for some (whether it’s period un**es, menstrual cups or something else). However, they can be a steeper investment upfront - and sometimes people may not have access to clean water to keep their reusable period products hygienic.

Disposable period products are usually the more familiar option - think pads and tampons. Convenient and cheaper, they’re a great option for on the go. However, disposables do create more waste.

Ultimately - it’s all about what works best for YOU. Maybe it’s a mix - reusables at home and disposables on the go, tampons for sports and a menstrual cup for work. We love when we can include a mix of products in our donation drops and give people options to figure out what works best for them! ❤️🩸

We did a survey in 2021, and found that 45% of people who responded felt that having their period held them back from doing the activities they want. 45%!

We want to make sure that a lack of access to period products isn’t a barrier to doing the things you love.
