🚦 What Auckland's transport changes mean for you?

From 1 October 2026, Auckland Council is taking responsibility for most transport functions. While much will stay the same, you may notice a few changes:

📱 AT Park becomes AC Parking
If you use the AT Park app, you’ll be prompted to update it to AC Parking. Your existing account, parking payments and infringement services will continue as usual.

🛠️ Reporting local issues
Auckland Council will now manage reports about things like potholes, damaged footpaths, broken streetlights and bus shelters.

You can continue to report these through Council’s Report It service.

💬 Having your say on transport changes
If changes are proposed in your neighbourhood – such as new pedestrian crossings, parking changes, speed limits, bus lanes or intersection upgrades – Auckland Council will now lead public engagement.

Local boards will also have a bigger role in some neighbourhood-level transport decisions (local and collector roads).

World homeless day is on Saturday 10th October. We would like your help in highlighting the issue of homelessness.

You can do this by
-Coming to the next Housing call to action meeting on the 7th October and making an Educational sign using the stats we have on homelessness
-Offer to have a sign/s on your fence
-Or make an educational sign at home and put it out on your fence.
-Use chalk pens to write on your car windows an educational Stat for the week leading up to word homeless day.
-Support the event hosted by Manaaki Rangatahi Catherine Plaza, Henderson
-Support other events in your area.

Police have laid additional charges against a former child psychologist, currently on bail for alleged historic sexual offences.

Ricki (Ban Teik) Tan, aged 63, has been charged with 17 counts of historic sexual offending against five victims aged between 12 and 21 at the time of the alleged offending, between the late 1980s and early 2000s.

Police are now appealing to any other victims to come forward.

Tan has worked closely with youths and numerous community organisations, over a number of decades, including children referred by other agencies such as Child, Youth and Family.

As part of the investigation, Police have contacted 90 individuals known to have had contact with Tan as youths via Child, Youth and Family.

We are aware that there are potentially many more people, children at the time, who had interactions with this individual. Our priority is to speak with anybody who has been a potential victim of sexual offending.

We also encourage anyone who has knowledge of possible offending in this context, to come forward. We can also ensure people get the support and help they need.

We would like to reassure those who come forward that the information provided to Police will be treated with absolute sensitivity and care.

Police understand incidents of this nature are incredibly difficult to talk about; Police have support available to those who require it.

Anyone with information that could assist Police enquiries, is asked to make contact via 105, referencing the file number 260411/7645.

New Zealand Food Safety is supporting Tip Top Ice Cream Company in its recall of a specific batch of its 6-pack Jelly Tip Ice Cream due to the possible presence of Bacillus cereus.

Jelly Tip Ice Cream 6 Pack (6 x 75mL) with a best-before date of 30-SEP-28 and a time stamp range between 03:00-05:00 L MO6252 is affected by this recall.

The affected products are sold at Woolworths stores in the North Island.
