Lea Faka-Tonga mo Lālanga Workshop last night 🇹🇴

27/04/2024

Our Lālanga Kako, Kako Ta’ovala Kiekie session was led by our guest facilitators, ‘Knowledge Keepers’ - Malia Soane Malafu and her daughters Seletute & Seniola Malafu.

We are thankful for these experts in the art of Kako, and sharing their touching stories.

Learning the craft from their mothers, from Ha’apai to Tongatapu, selling to tourists and at Lanagafonua, this craft was a means of livelihood and provided for the wellbeing of thier children and family as a whole.

We are excited for the journey ahead; reviving traditional Tongan crafts, and using it as a means to teach our Lea Faka-Tonga.

Join us in our next upcoming workshops/talanoa in the coming weeks. More information will be posted, here on our page soon.

Mālō ‘aupito to our students and families for coming last night and who have registered in our project.

Our first ‘Tongan Language & Weaving Together’ Workshop for 2024 was held last night, with our children and their families.

Our Lea Faka-Tonga session was run by our
Lea Faka-Tonga Facilitator/Navigator - Amelia Pome’e and we ended the night with our Lālanga Kako,
Kako Kiekie session led by our guest facilitators/‘Knowledge Keepers’ - Malia Soane Malafu and her daughters Seletute and Seniola Malafu.

We are thankful for our experts in the art of Lālanga Kako, and sharing their touching stories.
Learning from their mothers, from Ha’apai to Tongatapu, selling to tourists and at Lanagafonua, this craft was a means of livelihood and provided for the wellbeing of their children and family as a whole.

Learning from the past to shape the present and guard the future. We are excited for the journey ahead; learning from our Knowledge Keepers, reviving traditional Tongan customs and practices, and its teaching and strengthening of our Lea Faka-Tonga and ‘Anga Faka-Tonga; Taufatungamotu’a.

Join us in our next upcoming workshops/talanoa in the coming weeks. More information will be posted, here on our page soon.

Mālō ‘aupito to our students and families for coming last night and who have registered in our project.
