RCODA members are attending Rotary Oceania Summit in Napier this weekend. Aptly themed 'Unite for Good', this summit combines districts of New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. It's been a great network with Clubs right throughout NZ and the Pacific and discover synergies in our community projects.

Proud moments at the Rotary Oceania Summit in beautiful Napier

Our President Ashika Devi alongside President Amelia from the Rotary Club of Labasa proudly representing the Pacific Islands—bringing our voices, our stories, and our commitment to service to the regional stage.

Stronger together, united in purpose, and inspired to create lasting impact across our communities

A massive thank you to past Downtown member and Managing Director of Simplicity, Sam Stubbs, for joining us this morning. Sam shared a refreshingly positive outlook for the NZ economy, anchored by the transformative power of KiwiSaver.

His insights into how a growing pool of domestic capital can fuel infrastructure, innovation, and long-term prosperity gave us all plenty to think about. It’s a reminder that when we invest in ourselves, the potential is limitless.

We are grateful for Sam’s generous donation of $5000 to the Club on behalf of Simplicity NZ.

We were also privileged to hear from Peter Ross, District Chair of Youth Projects. Peter provided a comprehensive overview of the upcoming multitude of Youth Programs slated for this year.

Rotary is a global family, and it was a pleasure to extend a warm Auckland welcome to our international guest Albert van Kaastel from the Netherlands and his son Rob. Thank you for visiting our club and sharing in our fellowship!

Hope Centre Fiji is one of the charities our International Committee supports. It's great to see how our fundraising efforts are making direct impact on quality of lives in the Pacific.

Come to our quiz night (24th Feb 2026 Tuesday) to support our causes in the Pacific. If you are busy, you can pre-purchase Raffle tickets instead. Contact the club for more information or check our events page.

This Tuesday, the Downtown Auckland Rotary Club held a pink ribbon breakfast in support of the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ.

Our members pulled out their most vibrant pink attire and the Northern Club was done up to suit!

Simon Keable-Elliott, delivered a captivating historical journey. Simon, the grandson of Robert Keable, told the scandalous story of his ancestor—a WW1 chaplain who wrote the controversial novel, Simon Called Peter.

Simon shared how the semi-autobiographical book was banned in Boston, mentioned in The Great Gatsby, and became a bestseller here in New Zealand. Simon, a writer and lecturer who published his first book, Utterly Immoral, in 2023, truly brought this incredible, tumultuous life story to life.

We were privileged to hear from the Breast Cancer Foundation CEO, Ah-Leen Rayner. Ah-Leen illuminated exactly how funds raised are put to work. They provided an insightful look into the crucial research being undertaken to push for new frontiers in early detection, treatment, and support, which are ultimately changing outcomes for New Zealanders affected by breast cancer.

A huge thank you to all our speakers and the Party Committee for making this such an engaging and successful meeting!

What an incredible morning with two true heroes from the sky! 🚁

The Downtown Auckland Rotary Club was privileged to host Dr. Jono Wills, an Emergency Medicine Specialist, and Dr. Chris Denny, Medical Director, from Northern Rescue. They shared a gripping, firsthand account of what it's truly like working on the Westpac Rescue Helicopters.

Their talk was a powerful reminder of the relentless commitment required for this life-saving work. Dr. Wills and Dr. Denny spoke candidly about the ongoing need for training, innovation in research, and rigorous testing to ensure they can provide the best possible care under the most challenging circumstances.

Crucially, they highlighted the vital role of community engagement and support. Their work wouldn't be possible without the generous involvement and initiatives from organisations and individuals.

Thank you, Dr. Wills and Dr. Denny, for your inspiring presentation and for all you do to serve our community.

The Rotary Club of Downtown Auckland was privileged to host a truly insightful speaker at this week's breakfast meeting. We extended a warm welcome to Anna Cupples, the Head of Engineering at Trade Me. Anna shared valuable insights on how anyone can harness the power of Generative AI in their daily life, from streamlining tasks to unleashing creativity. A huge thank you to Anna for her engaging and incredibly practical presentation.

We also had the honor of inducting two new members, Rajgopal (Raj) Kakade and Nilam Adhikari. We are delighted to welcome them to the Downtown Auckland family and look forward to their contributions as we continue our mission of service to the community.
