As we return from holidays and back into our regular routines, including some unattended chores around the house, it’s worth issuing a timely reminder around property maintenance including berms and rain gardens.
All front yards, street berms surrounding your property, lawns and gardens must be maintained according to the covenants, i.e. no grassed areas over 100mm, unsightly weeds, or left in a state that is detrimental to the Milldale subdivision. (See items 12.3/12.4 on the link in the comments)
Although street berms and rain gardens are owned by Auckland Council, like the rest of Auckland, it is the responsibility of the adjacent property owner to maintain these areas. Council will not tend to these spaces, so please do you bit to help keep Milldale looking and feeling the way we all would like our community to stay.
Public parks and walkways that have been handed over to Council from the Developer (see the latest handovers below) are maintained by Council contractors according to their maintenance schedules.
If a public park or walkway appears neglected, and has been handed over to Council, please lodge a complaint with Council via the link in the comments. If the area has yet to be handed over, please contact the developer.
Likewise, if there is a problem with a rain garden or berm such as damage or blockage, please report to Council so they can send out the appropriate contractor.
Rain gardens in the front berms are a council asset and council is the best place to contact if there is a problem with them.
