We loved teaming up with Lincoln Uni recently to deliver a bespoke workshop for young entrepreneurs building land-based businesses. At The King’s Trust, sustainability matters deeply - for both young people and the planet - so it was incredibly special to connect with others who share that vision.

Thank you to Dr. Ani Kartikasari - Lincoln University, Graham Scown - Ministry of Awesome and Yasmin Wessels - The Flower Loop and He Kākano alumni for coming along and sharing their stories, insights and entrepreneurial journeys 💛

And thank you to Lincoln University and Faith for hosting us so warmly. We’re excited to keep growing this relationship and can’t wait to be back!

Thank you both for your service to The Trust in governance, with acute foresight and a staunch commitment to young people.

He Kākano is The King’s Trust Aotearoa New Zealand seed funding initiative designed to support young people turning their ideas into reality.

Behind every application, pitch, and business idea is a young person taking a brave step toward something bigger, and we’re grateful to have Emmalene supporting them through that journey. From helping refine young people’s pitches to building confidence throughout the process, her support makes a real difference for the young people we work alongside.

He Kākano is about more than funding. It’s about backing potential, creating opportunity, and helping young people grow. 🌱

Meet Maioha Tawa, founder of Toi Manako Studio, using illustration and visual storytelling to make information more engaging, accessible and meaningful for communities.

After working in the iwi research space, Maioha saw the power visuals had in helping communicate important information in ways that connected with people. That passion led her to launch Toi Manako Studio, creating illustrations that are engaging, accessible and easy to understand.

Maioha completed our Ara Tipu start-up programme in partnership with AUT and was also a recipient of He Kākano, our seed funding grant supporting young people to bring their business ventures to life. Since then, she has continued growing her creative business and making an impact through her work.

This Youth Week, we’re celebrating young people like Maioha who are backing themselves, building businesses and creating positive change in their communities.

Nau mai ki te wiki ō ngā taiohi!! Youth Week is here for 2026.

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible young people a part of our community who are shaping Aotearoa every single day through entrepreneurship, creativity, culture, leadership and their incredible business ideas.

This year’s theme, “Our Voices Matter, We Deserve to Be Heard,” is a reminder that rangatahi voices are powerful, valuable, and worthy of being listened to. At The King’s Trust Aotearoa New Zealand rangatahi are at the centre of what we do and keep us driven to continue creating opportunities!

Throughout the week, we’ll be spotlighting inspiring young people from our community and sharing their stories, journeys, and dreams for the future.
