Robusta or Arabica—do you really know what’s in your cup? ☕
These two beans have different personalities: from how they’re grown to how they hit your taste buds.

🌱 Robusta: bold, earthy, chocolatey—Vietnam's main imported coffee.
🌿 Arabica: smooth, fruity, high acidity—cultivated to be specialty.

Here's are some guidelines to tell them apart by look, feel, and flavour 👀

📌 Save this for your next coffee run or home brew sesh.

Coffee was originally a luxury drink reserved for the aristocracy. But gradually, Vietnamese people began to love this characteristic bitter taste, and drinking it over and over again became addictive.

We were influenced by a bit of the French coffee-sipping culture—but still, we shaped it into something truly our own. From humble street corners to stylish cafes, from colonial roots to global recognition, Vietnamese coffee has a powerful story—and a powerful taste to match.

Thank you all for reading and sharing my blog about coffee culture this week.

Have you ever experienced drinking coffee on a little plastic stool?
I think it’s a part of Vietnamese coffee culture—simple, authentic, and full of charm.

Sure, we love our caffeine refills ☕
But it’s also more than that.
It’s an excuse for a date, a moment to catch a breeze, to watch the world pass by, and sink into unhurried conversations.

The stool might be small, but the stories shared from it are anything but.

In Vietnam, cafes are the living rooms of the city.

We are not only going to cafes for a morning routine. It's a place to meet up with someone, a place to escape to be alone, or a place to visit a memory, a destination. Whether your coffee is black, brown, iced, egg, or coconut, we don’t just drink and leave—we experience it in the cup, the space and sometimes with a companion.

What makes you think Vietnamese cafes are doing so well, and also tell me how many times do you visit a cafe in a week? 👇

3 Simple Tools to Instantly Upgrade Your Home Brew ☕✨

You don’t need a fancy setup to make good Vietnamese coffee at home. Just these 3 essential tools can take your brew to the next level:

✅ Gooseneck Kettle – Master the pour for better extraction and balanced flavor.
✅ Digital Scale – Get precise with your coffee-to-water ratio for a consistently perfect cup.
✅ Electric Milk Frother – Add a creamy, fluffy touch to your egg coffee or salted cream coffee in seconds.

Which one do you already use? Or are you adding one to your setup?

After countless bowls of phở, these are my top 3 go-to spots in Auckland for a comforting, flavorful beef phở! 🍜✨

From rich, aromatic broth to tender beef and fresh herbs, poached egg available, these places never disappoint. But honestly, Auckland’s phở scene is so good right now that it’s hard to stick to just three! 😅

✨ Honorable mentions: Sen Vietnamese Kitchen & Bar, Courtyard Vietnamese Cafe, Palm Vietnamese Cuisine, and Josy Cafe—also serving up incredible bowls of phở that deserve a shoutout! 🫶🏻

There are still so many spots to explore, but for now, these are my current faves. Save this list for your next phở craving & let me know your top picks! 👇

Did you know that Vietnam has one of the lowest obesity rates in the world?

Honestly, I miss Vietnamese breakfasts the most—whether it’s a steaming bowl of noodle soup, sticky rice, or a fresh bánh mì. No wonder I always end up at Vietnamese restaurants! 😂

But let’s not forget the magic of Vietnamese street food at night—grilled delights, cold drinks, and the buzzing streets just hit differently. And the ultimate best? The food vendors parked outside high schools… nothing beats those childhood favorites!

What’s your go-to Vietnamese dish? Let me know below! 👇
