It is with great sadness that our founder and Trustee Andrea Hawkless has passed away. Andrea knew from personal experience that not all epilepsy can be controlled by medication alone when her son died after a seizure. Andrea formed NZEADT in 2007 to enhance the lives of many whose epilepsy significantly affected their daily lives. She was much loved by everyone associated with the Trust (and the dogs) and will be greatly missed. Our condolences to Andrea’s husband Jim and her family. RIP Andrea 💜

Seizure First Aid -1
It's important to practice responding to seizures to feel confident in providing first aid. Make sure to allocate time for a "seizure drill" to rehearse each person's role if a seizure occurs. Practicing what to do when witnessing a seizure can help everyone feel more confident in providing seizure first aid. It's important to set aside time for a 'seizure drill' to practice what each person will do if a seizure occurs.

Kiri and her assist dog Tyson visited Room 15 today at Pukekohe Hill School to talk about Epilepsy and assist dogs as part of Neurodiversity week. It is also Brain Awareness month in March so it was a perfect opportunity to raise awareness. Tyson was very good & got lots of pats - it looks like he has made a bunch of new fans!
