New name change! On IWD we want you to know why:
Aotearoa Women’s Watch is our new name, reflecting an important evolution from Pacific Women’s Watch (NZ), which was established in 2001 as the New Zealand link to the Asia Pacific Women’s Watch network. After listening carefully to our members and supporters, our convening committee believes this change clearly signals our focus on monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on the status of women, girls, and LGBTQI+ people here in Aotearoa New Zealand. While we honour our regional history and connections, our work is now firmly centred on the diverse communities that call Aotearoa home—particularly those experiencing social or economic disadvantage, marginalisation, and barriers to being heard.
We acknowledge the strong and growing leadership of Pacific women-led organisations nationally and internationally, and we see our role as standing alongside them in solidarity. Aotearoa Women’s Watch remains a collective representing the many ethnicities across rural and urban communities, continuing our commitment to evidence-based reporting, collaborative networks, and advocacy for equity and inclusion.

Today we celebrate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights — a promise that every person is born free, equal and deserving of dignity.
This year’s theme reminds us of a simple truth: Human Rights are our everyday essentials.
Let’s continue building a world where these rights are protected for all. 🕊️💛

Graphic reads: 1 in 4 women have experienced stalking in NZ. Stalking is not a recognised offence and at best can only be covered by some weak harassment laws! Make stalking illegal!

Today marks 1 YEAR since we launched New Zealand's first pay gap registry. 90 businesses are now reporting their pay gaps publicly in an effort to make our workforce more transparent and equitable. It's not too late to join them! 🙌

This International Women's Day, we're calling on all large businesses to make strides towards closing pay gaps by signing up to our public pay gap registry. The simple act of reporting pay gaps has proven effective in reducing gaps by 20-40%. You can't fix what you don't measure, so start today.

To add your organisation to the Registry, or let us know about your reporting, please complete this form: https://lnkd.in/g5kgXwtX
