The newly completed workplace is set in the iconic Chief Post Office building at Britomart, bringing together the character and craftsmanship of the original building with a contemporary environment designed for connection, collaboration and flexibility.

The long-awaited Building (Earthquake-prone Buildings) Amendment Bill has passed, delivering a significant win for New Zealand’s property sector.

A key outcome for the property sector is the removal of %NBS ratings, moving the system towards a more proportionate, risk-based approach to managing earthquake-prone buildings.

This has been a long-running area of advocacy for Property Council New Zealand, and we’re pleased to see an important part of our work reflected in the legislation.

A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to our Seismic Strengthening Taskforce over the years, and to those who have shared their expertise through workshops, feedback and submissions.

“This is a landmark day for our sector and for the towns and cities we help shape,” says Property Council New Zealand chief executive Leonie Freeman.

And just like that, The Property Conference comes to a close! Three days of big ideas, challenging conversations, new perspectives and plenty of moments to step away from the everyday and think bigger, better and bolder about what’s next.

We’ve looked at disruption, the future of property, economic and geopolitical shifts, climate, infrastructure, leadership and so much more — all through the lens of being here in Sydney and seeing what we can learn from our neighbours across the ditch.

But perhaps the biggest takeaway is the simplest: there’s real value in getting the right people in a room, creating space to think differently and sharing ideas with the people shaping our industry.
