🌳 On Saturday, 17th of January we gathered at Duder Regional Park to go on a hike and discuss our New Year’s resolutions.

Together, we reflected on how Sikhi values can guide our intentions for the year ahead as well as the deeper purpose behind the goals we set for ourselves. What made the day special was the diversity of people who joined, including many who were new and still learning about Sikhi.

It reminded us that Sikhi isn’t about how much you know, but about the willingness to reflect, grow, and walk the path with sincerity.

Thank you to everyone who showed up with open hearts and thoughtful conversations. We’re grateful to share these spaces of reflection, sangat, and connection together and we hope to have events similar to this in the near future!

This year at SYNZ Summer Camp 2026, we decided to switch up our usual Jatha Competition performance.

Instead of recreating Sakhis, we gave each Jatha a real challenge that our Sikh community faces and asked them to explore it, and act out a solution! People of all ages came together to tackle real issues within our community. We saw some hilarious, super insightful, and thought-provoking solutions that left us feeling fulfilled and grateful to be building a Sangat ready to change the world for the better.

SYNZ Summer Camp 2026!

Thank you to every camper, Sevadaar, and facilitator who made this weekend so special. Your energy, openness, and seva created a space where we could learn, grow, and connect deeply through Sangat.

When comes to Sikh Youth NZ Summer Camp 2026 and teaches a self defence class!

The purpose behind this class was to make our Sangat aware of the purpose behind being physically fit! It was about reconnecting to the Sikh principle of Miri Piri. In Sikhi, we are taught to balance Piri (spiritual strength) with Miri (temporal strength). That means building discipline in our mind and spirit, while also developing the physical strength and courage to stand up for ourselves and others.

This is not about how you look but about how strong, capable, and prepared you are 🪯

Proof that Sangat changes you ❤️ it’s a strong reminder of who we are and who we are meant to become! Through Seva, shared Ardaas, and honest conversations…perspectives shift, and faith deepens.

What we take from here isn’t just memories, it’s a responsibility to walk differently in the world.
