What a wonderful evening celebrating 30 years of The Council of Christians and Muslims (CCM) and its enduring commitment to interfaith dialogue, understanding, and friendship in Aotearoa.

The event brought together community and faith leaders, long-time supporters, partners, and friends to reflect on three decades of building bridges across faiths and cultures. We were honoured to hear inspiring speeches and thoughtful reflections from our distinguished speakers, whose contributions highlighted the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and collaboration in strengthening our communities.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, shared their stories, and contributed to this milestone celebration. As we honour CCM’s remarkable legacy, we also look forward to continuing this important work of fostering connection, understanding, and peace for generations to come.

Distinguished speakers:
Dr Ashraf Anwar, Rev Bruce Keeley, The Very Reverend Anne Mils (Dean - Holy Trinity Cathedral), Beate Matthies (ADCEIR), Bruce Harrison (ADCEIR), Judith Crimmins (Pax Christi Aotearoa), Heather Denny (Religious Society of Friends), Ram Lingam (Auckland Interfaith Council), Ricky Waters (Religious Diversity Centre Aotearoa), Adem Soylemez (Pearl of the Islands Foundation)

Emcee: Tayyaba Khan

At Easter time we reflect on the opportunity for exchange. We bring our brokenness, burdens and sorrow to God, trusting in his mercy and compassion to exchange them for healing, rest and joy in the fullness of his timing. It’s a time to acknowledge the pain in our world, and celebrate the moments when God has brought beauty out of ashes, or given us an attitude of praise instead of heaviness.

As friends from different faiths we reflect on the human struggles that concern us all, seeking God’s peace and hope for our families and for our world.

Noho ora mai. Happy Easter. 💙💛🌿
