Mark 4:38-40 NIV
38.Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39. He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Whenever we are faced with squall (a sudden violent gust of wind or localized storm), many reacted nervously. In this story, the deciples responded doubtfully when attacked by the storm, while JESUS WAS SLEEPING IN THE BOAT.
The disciples made an unfounded claim, quote "Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
People can too make unprofound claims against us and our families when they are afraid, jealous and have a lack of knowledge on how to calm their own storms. But know that when Jesus is in the Boat, we need not to worry.
The symbolic tone of this story also reflects a common reaction displays by a few, when they fear the wind and the storm more, instead of trusting the maker of the wind and the storm, Jesus Christ, who is always with us.
Jesus rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. This is an example set by our Redeemer, that we are reminded to do, to calm and cast out any storms distracting our joy and walk with God.
