Community First Local Board Representatives stand for:
Community: We will work with the Police and Neighborhood support groups as Aucklander’s have the right to feel safe in their community. We will not accept anti-social behavior and will have fully funded quick graffiti removal. We advocate for youth facilities and community swimming pools, Retaining free libraries. We will start the building p
rocess for a new Community Centre-Library-Recreation centre and swimming pool in Avondale, hopefully completed within 3 years. Leadership: Leading positively and effectively with a team that has a wide range of life experiences. We will work to ensure the promise that local decisions will be made locally is honored. Community First policy is that all of our candidates must live in the Ward they wish to represent. Affordability: Living in Auckland can be expensive, we will work with the council to minimize the burdens on households by them making the Council Controlled Organizations be accountable and deliver the best possible results for our communities. Water and waste water costs will be kept to the minimum necessary to maintain a world class system. We advocate that no one should be paying more for water than they use. We do not believe that rates should rise more than inflation and we will retain the rates rebate system. Prosperity: Welcoming progress to a world-class Auckland of which you will be proud of. We will work closely with our Business Associations to clean up our town centre’s and make them desirable places to go. We will work with developers to rebuild Avondale’s towncentre. Transport: We will work with the Transport Agency to improve public transport into the whole Whau Ward. We will advocate for Park and Rides at all train stations in the Ward especially Avondale. Environment: We will work to preserve our parks, reserves and shoreline that enhance the whole Whau Ward environment. We will extend our pedestrian and cycle ways to link up with other wards.
