We had the joy of attending the Auckland Diwali Festival for the very first time over the weekend! 🎆

We had a great time at the Dew Drop Centre in Manukau, enjoying the vibrant performances, delicious food, and cultural activities. We want to thank everyone who visited our stall for a Well Child check, to enter our prize draw, or just for a chat!

Our team absolutely loved meeting so many families - it was such a special chance to support families and to let them know about all the ways Plunket’s here to help. Thanks to everyone who stopped by - you made our day! ✨

It is with great sadness today that we share with you the news of the passing of Maata Ormsby, one of our Kaiāwhina who retired in January after more than 20 years with Whānau Āwhina Plunket.
Messaging sent by CE Fiona Kingsford to Plunket kaimahi this week -
Maata was a highly respected and valued member of the Plunket team, working in many areas of Counties Manukau in Tāmaki Makaurau. She was heavily involved in the building and sustaining of Kōhanga Reo relationships where she visited different centres as part of her role – at one point servicing 27 Kōhanga Reo.
Most recently, Maata worked with the Manurewa team at our Poutokomanawa clinic. She was a familiar and trusted face; welcoming whānau into the clinic spaces, as well as leading playgroups alongside our Community Services kaimahi. We are privileged to have worked alongside a truly remarkable wahine.
Both myself and a group of our kaimahi attended her tangihanga yesterday. Maata was laid to rest with her Kaiāwhina Plunket badge and a Kōhanga Reo badge gifted by our kaimahi as a symbol of appreciation for her service.
Our thoughts, prayers and aroha are with Maata’s whānau and friends at this sad time, as well as her team and close colleagues.
Kei te urutapu nui o Te Poutokomanawa, o te hapori o Te Manurewa o Tamapahore – Kia au tō moe

We will miss you Maata Thank you for your love for our whanau in Manurewa Poutokomanawa

A new case of measles has been identified in Auckland.
There are a number of public locations in Auckland where the person was while infectious. Measles is a serious and highly infectious illness, so people should check their immunisation status and follow public health advice.
Locations of interest include:

• Fullers360 ferry journeys on Monday 5 May, with sailings from 3.30pm to 9.45pm
• Auckland Custom St Downtown Carpark on Monday 5 May, between 1.30pm and 2.30pm, and 11.00pm to midnight
If you were at any of these locations, you need to check your immunisation status. If you’re not immune or unsure, watch for measles symptoms and call Healthline for advice on 0800 611 116.
Measles symptoms to be aware of:
• The illness begins with a high fever (over 38°C), cough, runny nose, and sore red eyes (conjunctivitis)
