Pāti Māori Co-leader Rawiri Waititi says the departmental report on the Regulatory Standards Bill “has failed the people of Aotearoa.”

He moved to reject the report, halt amendments, and base it solely on submitter feedback, saying its recommendations ignored the overwhelming opposition.

The motion was voted down this morning.

“This decision shows exactly what’s wrong with this government, it is willing to ignore the voices of 157,000 submitters, 98.7% of whom opposed this Bill,” said Waititi.

Solidarity Network Aotearoa - PSNA are holding rallies nationwide this weekend. The famine and health system collapse in Gaza worsens each day that Israel prevents the entry of aid or food through Gaza's borders. The NZ Government is spineless and complicit in genocide by allowing companies like Rakon to provide parts for weapons, and Rocket Lab to launch BlackSky satellites used for targeting, bombing, and assassinating Palestinians. Aotearoa's people oppose the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. The New Zealand Government is going against public mandate and is a shame on the world stage. They must sanction Israel now! They must expel the ambassador! They must stop arming Israel!

🇵🇸 Voices for Palestine Hauraki is a grass-roots community collective upholding local efforts of solidarity with Palestine. We show our support through action, advocacy, BDS; boycott divest & sanctions and fundraising for mutual aid initiatives in Palestine and Gaza.

📍 We are based in Pare Hauraki, Pare Waikato - a scope encompassing the Hauraki and Coromandel Peninsula areas. Ko te rohe o Pare Hauraki, ko ngā takiwā o Piako, o Ōhinemuri, o Moehau.

🌱Following on from the response to this call for a more sustained solidarity action with Palestine, around 20 people decided to form a local dedicated group for the kaupapa, and an additional group of people expressed interest in remaining connected to the work, in supportive roles.

⚠️Urging local retailers (Noel Leeming, Farmers, 100% Browns and The Warehouse) to SWAP OUT OF SODA STREAM, as part of a national Boycott against genocide campaign. They are all taking this up with regional managers. It will help if you go into the shop and ask them to swap to the local supplier, OH Bubbles (already available at Four Square with gas bottles that fit Soda Stream machines).

Tomorrow Tuesday 12th August join us in protest at lunchtime 12pm-1pm and from 4pm-6:30pm outside TVNZ in Tāmaki Makaurau in our grief and disgust at the part NZ media is playing in this genocide with biased reporting and repeating "Israel's" lies to the NZ public. We call on our media to defend Palestinian journalists, report the truth, demand justice for their media colleagues in Gaza and the OPT, and demand entry of international press into Gaza.

At this protest we are also highlighting the forced starvation of 2.1 Palestinians in Gaza. We invite you to join us. Organised with Collective (and supported by huge range of people from our awesome local social justice community, thank you all.)

Today, Israel murdered five Palestinian journalists and media workers who were residing in an Aljazeera press tent near Al-Shifa hospital.

Israel is spreading the lie that Anas and his colleagues are terrorists to justify and launder their targeting. Israel has targeted them to deny and erase the truth of the crimes it perpetuates against the Palestinian people.

HEAD TO TVNZ OFFICE AT 4PM TODAY:

DEFEND PALESTINIAN JOURNALISTS, report the truth, demanding justice for international colleagues

INTERNATIONAL ENTRY OF FREE PRESS INTO GAZA, break Israel’s ban on international journalism. Document Israel’s genocidal crimes.
