With the greatest sadness I have heard that Dr Birute Mary Galdikas has passed away. A giant in the field of orangutan conservation, and a tireless campaigner the world is poorer for the loss of the last of the ‘Trimates’, Louis Leakey’s Angels. Rest in Peace now dear Dr Birute, together with the souls of all your beloved Orangutans.
