With the greatest sadness I have heard that Dr Birute Mary Galdikas has passed away. A giant in the field of orangutan conservation, and a tireless campaigner the world is poorer for the loss of the last of the โ€˜Trimatesโ€™, Louis Leakeyโ€™s Angels. Rest in Peace now dear Dr Birute, together with the souls of all your beloved Orangutans.
