We were delighted to host five Rotarians from Rotary District 3000 in southern India during their 10-day Friendship Exchange visit to New Zealand.

At the end of their journey, the visiting team shared heartfelt reflections about the warmth, kindness, hospitality, and friendships they experienced throughout their stay, describing how they were welcomed not as guests, but as family.

Thank you to all our dedicated members and fellow Rotary clubs who hosted and welcomed them during their time in New Zealand, truly reflecting the spirit of Rotary fellowship. 🌏🤝

It was a real privilege for our club to welcome Professor Edwina Pio for a thought-provoking and inspiring talk on “Flirting with the Grim Reaper.”

Professor Pio shared reflections on positive ageing, staying active, and continuing to contribute to the “box of knowledge” throughout our lives. One message that resonated strongly was that people may not remember exactly what we said or did, but they will remember how we made them feel.

She also encouraged us to reflect on an important question: What would be the title of the story of our life?

Our club had another great speaker at our club meeting last night, as we welcomed Dr Lillian Ng from the University of Auckland to speak on the important topic of mental health.

Her presentation was both inspiring and informative, with an important message for us all: we need to take care of ourselves in body, mind and spirit in our daily lives, so that we are better able to care for and support others, beginning at home.

Our club hosted a fellowship dinner last night with members, friends and guests, including those from the Rotary Club Botany Downs and Rotary Club Papatoetoe Central.

It was great to catch up, share what each club has been working on, and strengthen connections across the network.

A great night of fellowship and building relationships to support the work we do in the community.

Join us to hear from Dr Lillian Ng as we take a moment to pause, reflect, and consider how we care for both our physical and mental wellbeing.

We may feel we’re coping well, but it’s also important to recognise when others may need our support.

Guests are most welcome—feel free to bring a friend along.

It was a great start to our first club meeting of the year joined by fellow Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Parnell, along with friends of our club, to begin 2026 in strong fellowship.

Thank you to our guest speaker Professor Paul Spoonley, who spoke about the existing demographic landscape and projected population growth over the next ten years in Auckland.

As the fourth most diverse city globally, his insights highlighted the importance of targeted support to strengthen social cohesion as our communities continue to evolve.

A meaningful and thought-provoking way to begin the year ahead.
