Kickstarting National Volunteer Week (Te Wiki Tūao ā-Motu) with our annual volunteer's luncheon today!!

Over 60 volunteers attend DPH weekly to support its staff and operations. From the Board, to Playgroup, the CLC, office, social work & tenancy teams; providing governance and oversight, caring for children, tutoring adult learners, sorting donated goods, cleaning the office, and maintaining our gardens & grounds.

Last month alone, De Paul House received 98 enquiries from individuals and families seeking housing, food assistance, or additional support services.

During this period, we welcomed and housed 9 new families and successfully supported 6 families into their own permanent housing.

De Paul House is home to 38 adults, 66 children, and 7 seniors, as we continue working alongside families to provide stability, support, and pathways toward long-term housing outcomes.

To date, we've received 571 calls for help. We can often feel overwhelmed when looking at the pressing issues facing New Zealanders today. In this newsletter, we celebrate the positive and acknowledge the many good people working to support De Paul House.

De Paul House is part of the social infrastructure that holds communities together. Every day, we provide practical support, foster connection, champion advocacy, and create hope for people facing housing and social challenges.

Huge shoutout to streamer Tom (pak8u) and his son who turned their livestream into a mission of kindness!

They hit the shops, filled their trolley with slow cookers, bedding, and towels, and donated the whole lot to support our families.
Talk about using your platform for good these two are absolute legends. 🎥

Today we celebrate one of our quiet heroes — Lynn Edwards a wonderful woman who regularly donates big bundles of Woolworths essentials to our food bank!

She swoops in with giant donations, saves our food bank shelves, and leaves us all smiling. Community heroes wear all kinds of capes, hers just happens to come with shopping bags. 🥳

🆘 Senior, homeless, living in their vehicle at work
🆘 Mother, homeless due to family harm
🆘 Family unable to afford their rental due to high medical needs
🆘 Family unsuccessful after multiple private rental applications
🆘 and more due to a Relationship breakdown, be it between spouses or parent & child

133 individuals are currently housed with us: 75 children, 52 adults & 6 seniors.
