Age Group enables athletes to compete for International Triathlon Union (ITU), Oceania and World Championship titles against other competitors within pre-defined age group categories. Triathlon New Zealand (Tri NZ) selects Age Group Athletes to compete at five ITU World Champ events each year: World Triathlon Grand Final World Cross Triathlon Championships World Long Distance Triathlon Championships World Duathlon Championships World Long Distance Duathlon Championships Triathlon and Duathlon are one of the few sports where no matter what age you are, you get the opportunity to wear the silver fern and represent your country to compete against the world’s best. The ITU hold World Championship events every year in different locations around the world and these competitions are the pinnacle events for Elite and Age Group Athletes.
