Yesterday’s team day was a valuable opportunity for the wāhine of Global Women to connect and learn about one another, reflect on the mahi we are doing, and collaborate in breakout sessions as we shaped our priorities for the next six months and beyond into 2027.

The day reinforced our continued commitment to advancing women in leadership and driving measurable diversity and inclusion outcomes through Champions for Change. It also strengthened our focus on building capability and creating meaningful mentoring, networking, and leadership development opportunities for our Power Circle community.

'Call for more pay gap reporting'.

We are incrediblly proud to see today's pay gap reporting article front page in The Post today, and even prouder to keep pushing for change. This piece speaks to something bigger than a headline: the importance of keeping gender equity and leadership firmly on the national agenda.

A huge thanks to Antonia Watson, CEO of ANZ, Traci Houpapa, Professional director and trusted advisor to Maori, Government and Industry, and David McLean, Chair of Kiwi Group Capital, for backing our voice and helping bring this conversation into spotlight. We’re proud to see this published for many New Zealanders to read.

Today our Women CEO Katie Bhreatnach and Chair Dame Theresa Gattung DNZM took out a full page open letter in The Post, underscoring that greater transparency would support fairer workplaces, stronger businesses and a more productive economy.

The move would bring New Zealand in line with countries including Australia and the United Kingdom. It would also reflect a wider global shift towards stronger pay transparency, including new European Union mandates requiring larger employers to report pay gaps and address significant, unexplained disparities.

Global Women Chair Theresa Gattung DNZM stated "Making reporting standard for large employers would create a consistent expectation and ensure more organisations have the information needed to measure, manage and close their gaps.”

Our CEO Katie Bhreatnach shared “Like all things in business, what gets measured gets managed. Reporting gives organisations the transparency and accountability needed to identify inequities, understand what is driving them and take measurable action.”

The message is simple. What gets measured gets managed. Let's make fairer workplaces and a stronger economy for Aotearoa.

Please join us in congratulating the successful applicants to our 2026 Breakthrough Leaders cohort, and in doing so acknowledge the champions who have backed them and those that will walk alongside them on the journey ahead.

Nau mai, piki mai - welcome to this year’s cohort of senior wāhine leaders: a group ready to broaden horizons, shift dials, and grow their impact and influence.

We are excited for what they’ll build together - the relationships and shared learning that extend each leader’s reach well beyond her own organisation, and the alumni community they will step into.
