We're excited to see NZCER's impressive plan for working towards Te Reo Māori as a core curriculum subject at all levels of schooling from 2020. It's great to see that NZEI is already endorsing it. We urge the Ministers and MoE to adopt and implement this plan as part of a national languages policy. The key education sector recommendations start on page xxi. The rest of the report is well worth reading too - important data on the factors that affect learning, mainentance and use of our national language.
