Two incredible milestones, one proud family.

In the past month, the Waiuku Volunteer Fire Brigade has had the honour of celebrating two very special members of our brigade.

Craig Midgley recently achieved his Gold Star – 25 years of service to our community. An incredible achievement, and one we’re hugely grateful for.
A special mention to his wife Sharna and their children, who have supported Craig every time the siren has sounded over the past 25 years.

Over the weekend, we celebrated Keith Midgley achieving his Double Gold Star – 50 years of service. This is an extremely rare milestone.
For five decades, Keith has given his all to the brigade and our community, from competitions to mentoring members to sharing his memories from the good old days. Keith, thank you for being a stalwart of the Waiuku Volunteer Fire Brigade.
To his wife Pat, thank you for 50 years of unwavering support behind the scenes.

The Midgley family now spans three generations of firefighters, with Kaleb following in his dad and poppa’s footsteps.

A combined 80 years of service is something truly special and not often replicated. We are proud to have the Midgley family as part of our brigade and thank them for their service 🤝

264 callouts in 2025 🚨

We’re volunteers, fitting this in around work, family, and everyday life.

A massive thank you to the crew who show up every time. You’re the reason we can do what we do ❤️

Huge thanks to the employers and self-employed legends who make it possible for our crew to step away and answer the siren 🙌

It’s been a big year and we’re proud to support our community.

Help us make 2026 a quieter one by doing the following:
• drive to the conditions 🚗
• swim between the flags 🏖️
• check www.checkitsalright.nz before lighting those burn piles 🔥

Kia Ora Waiuku,

We’ve surpassed last year’s turn out number for calls and we need your help to try and keep these down coming into the summer festive period.

🔥Always head to www.checkitsalright.nz before lighting those burn piles - this website gives advice and can also log your fire so we know you’ve got one happening

🔥 Have water on hand and know your nearest water source

🔥 Whilst we are in an open fire season, it’s pretty dry out there and things can quickly get out of hand so please call us on 111 if your fire has gotten away on you
