Rumours of violence began spreading in Myanmar. Rohingya villages were being attacked. Homes were burned. Families were fleeing for their lives.

Hosnima’s parents faced an impossible decision. Stay – and risk everything? Or flee through jungle terrain and across rivers, past hidden landmines and armed soldiers – with a child who could barely walk due to spinal injuries?

They fled.

“We carried Hosnima here on a sling made from bamboo poles,” her father explains.

Along with more than 800,000 Rohingya refugees, the family eventually crossed into neighbouring Bangladesh. Exhausted and traumatised, they arrived in the vast refugee settlements sprawling across the sand dunes of Cox’s Bazar.

Today on World Assistive Technology Day, we celebrate the simple tools that open up a world of opportunity – wheelchairs, hearing aids, glasses, and more.

For many people living with disabilities in the world’s poorest places, these are not just devices – they are life-changing. They bring mobility, communication, independence, and dignity.

“I’m so happy – it’s my new car!” - 11-year-old Agasave from Papua New Guinea.

Through cbm-supported programmes, more people are gaining access to the assistive technology they need to learn, work, and fully participate in their communities.

Thank you for helping remove barriers and create a more inclusive world for all.

Today on World Clubfoot Day, we’re reminded that every child deserves the chance to stand, walk and run into their future.

Clubfoot is a treatable condition – yet in the world’s poorest places, many children miss out on the simple care that could change everything.

Through cbm-supported programmes, children like Ramsaran in Nepal receive the treatment and support they need to walk with confidence and live life to the full.

Thank you for helping give children the strength, mobility and freedom they deserve.

“He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3

Thank you for helping mothers like Arziki find hope and healing beyond the smell, shame and isolation of obstetric fistula.

Soon after Arziki’s life-changing surgery, she noticed something extraordinary: the leaking had stopped.

“From all indications I am now healed… I’m very excited, I’m happy. I no longer suffer from the fistula problem.”

With healing came restored dignity, confidence, and the freedom to live freely again. Learn more… bit.ly/3F3ZGhu

Every day in the refugee camps of Cox’s Bazar, parents are carrying burdens almost too heavy to bear. Our CEO, Murray Sheard, has seen this with his own eyes. They carry the trauma of fleeing violence. They carry the daily struggle for food and shelter. And some parents are carrying a child whose body is slowly losing strength.

Eight-year-old Hosnima is one of those children.

Today, on International Day to End Obstetric Fistula, we stand with women who have endured one of the most devastating childbirth injuries - often in silence and isolation.

Obstetric fistula is preventable and treatable. Yet in the world’s poorest places, too many women are left without the care they need - facing pain, shame, and exclusion from their communities.

Through compassionate, cbm-supported care, healing is possible. Surgery can restore not only a woman’s body, but her dignity, confidence, and place in her community.

Together, we can be part of ending fistula - and ensuring no woman is left to suffer alone.

Blinded by cloudy cataracts, 6-year-old Faith lives in rural Uganda with her parents, Esther and Samuel, who work as subsistence farmers. Their daily struggle to earn enough for food leaves little left for medical expenses.

Once a bright and active child who loved singing and playing with friends, Faith can no longer attend school. Her teachers have told her to return only once her sight is restored.

“Mama, I want to go to school,” she often pleads.
