Training Opportunity – Mushroom Rd East 🌲

The controls used last Sunday are still out in the forest and you’re invited to use them for a self or assisted forest training session.

A great opportunity to train in your own way with experienced orienteers around to help and support.

📍 Location: Mushroom Rd East (enter via Restall Rd gate)
🗓️ Date: Next Saturday 9 May

⏰ Schedule:

Gates open 10.00–10.15am
Training 10.30–12.00pm
Control collection and pack up 12.00–12.30pm
Departure 12.30pm

💵 Cost: $5 (to cover road access, AOC covers the rest)

Training ideas:

- Redo your course and analyse what you could have done better
- Try alternative route choices (over vs around)
- Tackle part of a harder course
- Pair up to walk through legs and discuss decision making
- Go on a map walk with a more experienced orienteer
- Or bring your own ideas for training on the day

If you want to revisit controls from your course please bring your own map back.

Everyone must arrive and leave together. No toilets available on site.

Auckland Triple Crown 2026 is the trial event for the Southern Cross Challenge Team

To be eligible for selection, enter the appropriate A-grade class:
🏁 Senior, born in or before 2010
🏁 Junior, born in or after 2011

All athletes entered in these A-grade classes will be assumed available for selection

🌲 Forest and sprint racing
