August 29 – Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine 🇺🇦

🛡️ Today, Ukraine honours the memory of the men and women who gave their lives defending the country’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

🙏 August 29 is forever connected with the tragedy of Ilovaisk in 2014 — one of the darkest moments of russia’s war against Ukraine. Ukrainian forces were surrounded and, despite promises of safe passage, came under attack.

🔥 On August 29 at 8:15 a.m., Ukrainian troops began moving out of the city in organised columns along routes previously agreed upon with the 🇷🇺 side. At first, the Ukrainian columns moved unhindered past Russian fortified positions, but after a short while, the occupiers opened fire, shooting at the columns as they marched.

🛡️ 366 defenders were killed, 429 wounded and around 300 captured, more than 500 went missing. Until February 2022, the Ilovaisk tragedy remained the largest single-day loss suffered by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the history of independent Ukraine.

Today, on Ukraine’s Day of Remembrance of the Defenders, our community and friends of Ukraine gathered in Auckland for the annual Honouring Warriors, Running for the Heroes of Ukraine commemorative run.

We ran in memory of those who gave their lives defending Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and freedom — carrying their names, their stories and their memory with us.

And here in New Zealand, we remember with particular gratitude the Kiwi soldiers who chose to stand with Ukraine and made the ultimate sacrifice alongside Ukrainian defenders.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this run.

May every fallen defender be remembered. May their courage and sacrifice never be forgotten.

Yesterday, Auckland gathered to mark Ukraine’s 35th Independence Day.💛💙

On August 24, 1991, the state independence of Ukraine was restored, after our people's long journey toward self-determination.
The Declaration of Independence is the logical conclusion of Ukrainian state-building. As we celebrate the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Act of Independence of Ukraine, we also acknowledge the thousand-year history of our statehood.

Today, as russia continues its war of aggression, Ukraine once again fights for its very existence, for the right to live free, democratic, and sovereign.

Kia kaha, Ukraine!💪🇺🇦

Thank you, New Zealand, for standing with Ukraine from day one and for continuing to show your big heart and unwavering support.🙏🇳🇿

Mahi for Ukraine та UANZ запускають програму одноразової субсидії на відшкодування витрат, сплачених за подання заяви на Resident Visa до Immigration New Zealand (INZ).

🔹 Субсидія покриває лише збори INZ за подання заяви на Resident Visa та надається як відшкодування вже сплачених коштів.
🔹 Фінансування обмежене, а заявки розглядатимуться за принципом first come, first served, за умови відповідності критеріям та надання всієї необхідної інформації й підтверджуючих документів.
🔹 Подати заявку можуть як ті, чиї заяви на Resident Visa ще розглядаються, так і ті, хто вже отримав Resident Visa.

🇺🇦🇱🇹 Литва підтримує повернення українських фахівців до державної служби України
За підтримки Литовської Республіки триває третій набір учасників міжнародної програми Create Ukraine, яка відкриває можливість для українських фахівців із міжнародним досвідом долучитися до роботи в органах державної влади України.
Програму реалізує Литовський центр міжнародного партнерства при Центральному агентстві з управління проєктами (CPMA) спільно з Фондом KSE у співпраці з Міністерством закордонних справ Литовської Республіки та Урядом України.
Метою ініціативи є залучення українців, які проживали за кордоном, здобули міжнародний професійний або академічний досвід і готові повернутися, щоб сприяти:
🔹 зміцненню державних інституцій;
🔹 реалізації реформ;
🔹 європейській інтеграції України;
🔹 відновленню та розвитку держави.
У межах третього набору планується залучити ще 26 фахівців до роботи в міністерствах та інших державних установах України. Учасники також пройдуть сертифікований курс Київської школи економіки щодо взаємодії з органами державної влади.
📌 Подати заявку можуть громадяни України віком від 22 років, які:
• проживали за кордоном щонайменше два роки;
• мають міжнародний професійний досвід та/або освіту, здобуту в іноземному закладі вищої освіти;
• прагнуть повернутися до України та долучитися до її відновлення й розвитку.
📅 Прийом заявок триває до 14 серпня 2026 року включно.
