North Shore Islamic Association - NSIA - Our Big Dream Our objective is to serve the Muslim community by acting as a means for its empowerment.

The North Shore Islamic Association is aiming to establish a multi-purpose Islamic Centre to accommodate the needs of the rapidly growing Muslim community of the North Shore in Auckland, New Zealand. The Centre will include a large prayer hall to support 1,500 worshippers during the 5 daily prayers, Jummah and Taraweeh prayers; an Islamic educational institution for Muslims and non-Muslims that wi

ll include an Islamic library, resource centre, Quran & Arabic school and Islamic educational seminars; a Da'wah Centre to facilitate for the increasing demands to know, learn and study more about Islam; and a facility to host activities like sports, social gatherings, workshops and senior citizens activities. Services that are of pressing need to the Muslims in New Zealand will also be provided such as revert support, professional counselling services and matrimonial nikkah services. ​

According to the adopted Imkān al-Ru’yah methodology, the undersigned scholars, imams, and organisations announce:

This determination is based on moon sightability criteria within our regional zone.

We acknowledge that different scholarly opinions may be followed across New Zealand, and we encourage our community to maintain respect, unity, and Islamic brotherhood.

May Allah allow us to reach these blessed days, accept our worship, forgive our sins, and grant relief to our brothers and sisters facing hardship and oppression around the world.

📢 Dhul-Qa’dah 1447H Announcement (NZ)

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

We are pleased to confirm that 1st Dhul-Qa’dah 1447H will be on Sunday, 19 April 2026.

This is based on the Imkan al-Ru’yah (moon sightability) methodology, a Shariah-compliant approach adopted by major international Sunni fiqh councils around the world.
We respect that there may be different opinions and encourage all to maintain unity and mutual respect.
