Members recognised for their service to the Association and Massey
Massey Birdwood Settlers Association and Hall

Two executive members of the Massey Birdwood Settlers Association were recently recognised for their service to the Association and Massey by receiving Life Membership certificates.

Allen Davies has been on the Association for over 60 years. In his time as a Massey resident and on the executive of the association, Allen has served on the Waitemata City Council, the Waitakere City Council, the Massey Community Board, on the Waitemata Power Company, on the Waitakere Licensing Trust, as a Massey Lion member, he helped found the Massey Athletic Club, and served on the Royal Road Primary School PTA.

As an electrician, he wired the area that is now the Redhills Community Kindergarten (then the Massey Library) for free, and also wired the extensions added to the original hall in the late 1970s, such as the Den. The only help he had was from his wife!

Allen is a JP, currently lives on Waiheke Island, retains property in Massey, and is an active member of Grey Power.

Warren Flaunty has also been a member of the Association for close to 60 years. Warren has served on the Waitemata City Council, the Waitakere City Council, the Massey Community Board, the Massey Local Board and for 33 years on the Licensing Trust. Warren has been a referee for the Massey Rugby Club, assisted Hospice, and, as a chemist, has helped many people through his initiative to change pain and symptom management in palliative care by introducing the Graseby syringe driver (pain pump) for palliative care patients. Warren received recognition for his work from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and also a Queen's Service medal.

CPNZ Henderson 1st aid course in the hall 27 June 2026.

CPNZ do alot for the community and the Massey Birdwood Settlers Association Inc recognise that by letting them use the facilities for free especially when it comes to learning about a subject like first aid which will allow patrollers to better able to assist at incidents if required to do so.

Some local members of the community were also able to undertake the first aid course. The Association has a defibrillator on site in case of an emergency and CPR training and defibrillator use is part of first aid training. First Training Ltd were the providers of the training a local Henderson/West Auckland company.

CPNZ are eyes and ears for the Police and their distinctive vehicles can be seen throughout West Auckland patrolling our streets.

From dumped rubbish to abandoned vehicles to finding stolen vehicles, attending incidents, CPNZ helps keep our communities safe.
