Dove Hospice & Wellness Supporting people in our community to navigate holistically through life-threatening illness. Dove Hospice is a standalone, registered charitable trust.

The Dove model of care means caring for people from the moment they are diagnosed with a life threatening illness through to end of life or to wellness. Unlike other hospices we support people who have a terminal prognosis and those who expect full recovery, ‘bridging the gap’ between diagnosis and end of life, or diagnosis and wellness. Our model of care falls outside traditional government fundi

ng so we rely totally on the gift of time from volunteers, the gift of product to our eight Dove Hospice Shops, fundraising, grants, bequests and donations. Our Shops:

On Friday, we celebrated one whole year of our Ellerslie shop, and what a fabulous day it was!

A HUGE thank you to our amazing sponsor,
, for helping us make the celebration extra special. They supplied us with the most beautiful cart, along with delicious lollies and popcorn for our customers to enjoy.

At Dove, hospitality is at the heart of everything we do. It is grounded in the core cultural and institutional values of Manaakitanga—hospitality, kindness, and generosity—alongside Aroha (compassion) and Mana (respect).

One of the simple but much-loved ways we bring these values to life is through our homemade cheese scones, baked three times a week. Scone days often coincide with our patient support groups, and they have become something everyone looks forward to!

Patients frequently comment on the irresistible aroma drifting from the kitchen, awakening even the most dormant taste buds. These freshly baked scones are more than just a delicious treat—they are nourishing food made with love, shared with our patients, their families, volunteers, and staff. It's a small gesture that creates comfort, connection, and a sense of home for everyone who walks through our doors.
