JR’s Barbers – Craft, Confidence, and Community in Ōrākei

At JR’s Barbers in Ōrākei, a great haircut is about more than style — it’s about confidence, trust, and community.

Owner JR began his barbering journey in the Philippines at just 16 years old. After spending around six years working in barbershops across New Zealand, he opened his own shop in Remuera, bringing years of experience, skill, and passion into a space he could truly call his own.

JR’s Barbers is popular with kids, high school students, and university students alike, with some of the most requested styles including fades, taper fades, burst fades, and modern mullets. For JR, the most rewarding part of the job is seeing clients leave happy — confident, smiling, and ready to come back.

He believes a great barbershop is built on cleanliness, atmosphere, and above all, quality service. Trust and comfort keep clients returning, and JR is proud of the loyal community that has supported his craft over the years.

Located in Ōrākei, JR values the freedom to create his own vibe, set his own hours, and do what he loves every day — supported by a community he describes as friendly, respectful, and welcoming.
