[Invitation] Amplify the Asian Voice: Consultation on the Draft Carers' Strategy Action Plan
Dear Community Members,
Are you providing unpaid care for an elderly parent, a family member with a disability, or a loved one with a chronic illness? According to the latest census, there are nearly 500,000 carers in Aotearoa New Zealand just like you. Your dedication is invaluable and deserves formal recognition and support from the Government.
Currently, the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) is developing a new Carers' Strategy Action Plan. This plan will directly shape government policies over the coming years regarding financial security, carer wellbeing, and social recognition.
The Asian Community Engagement Trust (ACET) has been invited to facilitate a dedicated online session specifically for Asian carers. This is a vital opportunity for you to share your lived experiences directly with policymakers, particularly regarding linguistic barriers and the practical challenges faced by Asian families.
* Date & Time: Tuesday, 10 February 2026, 10:00 am – 11:30 am
* Platform: Online (Microsoft Teams)
* Capacity: Limited to 10 participants (Asian informal/unpaid carers)
[Regarding Linguistic Support] If you wish to participate but have concerns regarding language barriers, please inform us upon registration. ACET will advocate for necessary linguistic support (such as official Chinese translation) from MSD based on the needs identified to ensure your voice is heard effectively.
[How to Register] Due to limited spaces, please register your interest by Wednesday, 4 February. Please include: your name, contact details, and whether you require Chinese translation support.
1. By Email: [email protected]
2. By DM: ACET黑板报
Further Enquiries: You may contact us via the email above or DM "ACET Noticeboard" to request the detailed Discussion Documents (English version).
Sincerely,
Asian Community Engagement Trust (ACET)
