Despite a number of apologies, our last week’s meeting still ran smoothly and stayed well organised — a great example of teamwork in action.

Our Word of the Day: Magnanimous set a thoughtful tone for the evening.

The Table Topics session was especially creative — using a color wheel to spark ideas, and even switching themes midway to keep everyone engaged! 🎨

We also had two brave volunteers who stepped up for impromptu speeches, sharing thoughtful reflections and personal insights.

👏 Congratulations to Hasnaa for winning Best Table Topic Speaker! Well deserved!

👉 Can’t wait to see everyone again the day after tomorrow!

Last Wednesday’s Toastmasters meeting was full of surprises 🤩

Our first speaker, inspired by Mark’s singing session, didn’t just speak… she turned the whole room into a dance class 💃🕺 Yes — we were all learning moves together! Definitely not your “typical” meeting 😆

And guess what? Our guest absolutely smashed it and won Table Topics 🏆👏 Talk about stepping out of your comfort zone!

This is exactly why I love Toastmasters — you never know what’s coming next, but you always leave inspired (and sometimes with new dance skills 😂)

Have you ever tried Toastmasters? 👀
Join us this week! Feel free to message us for details 😊

What does success mean to you? Do we still ask questions with the curiosity we had as children?

These were some of the thought-provoking ideas explored in this week’s speeches, which also introduced many of us to something new — Wudu, offering a glimpse into different culture.

Congratulations to our Table Topics winners, Icy and Mark — and a special welcome to our Area Director Icy.

With our Word of the Day “convivial,” the meeting truly lived up to its warm and friendly spirit.

What a fantastic event we had this Wednesday at our club contests! 🎉

We hosted both the Evaluation Contest and the International Speech Contest, and it turned out to be an energetic, inspiring, and fun meeting for everyone.

Our Evaluation test speaker was Tina Li from Kirstin Toastmasters, who delivered a powerful speech titled “Between Fear and Forward.”
Congratulations to Sue Meintjes for winning first place, with Mark Adams as runner-up!

In the International Speech Contest, Hasnaa Ahmed took first place, and Alex Light was runner-up — well done to both!

We also had a record number of contestants this time — four speakers in the International Speech Contest! And amazingly, we managed to fit everything into just one hour. Huge thanks to everyone who helped make the meeting run so smoothly and successfully.👏

✨ This Week’s Online Toastmasters Meeting — Don’t Miss It!

Last week’s in-person meeting reminded us why Toastmasters is never just about “speeches”.

One experienced member —Mark introduced us to the concept of an earworm —
and before we knew it, we were all singing
🎵 “Mares eat oats… little lambs eat ivy…”

Yes, singing.
And yes, it was surprisingly fun 😄

Moments like these are what make Toastmasters special:
unexpected, creative, and genuinely memorable.

🏆 A quick shout-out!

Congratulations to Hasnaa,
who once again won Best Table Topics Speaker 🎉

(And yes — she is also our Humorous Speech Contest winner.
Clearly, quick thinking and humor are her superpowers!)

If you enjoy:
• learning something new in a fun way
• laughing while improving your speaking skills
• meeting people who aren’t afraid to try something different

👉 then join us for this week’s online meeting!

We promise:
no singing required…
unless another earworm sneaks in 😉

✨ Another heart-warming meeting, packed with inspiration and moments that remind us why we enjoy our Toastmasters journey.

🎤 Alex led the session beautifully as our Toastmaster of the Day, keeping the energy high and the room engaged from start to finish.

🏆 Our Table Topics brought out the best in everyone, and Margaret and Natasha shone brightly—both taking home the Best Table Topics award. Congratulations!

🌟 We were especially proud of Jo, who delivered her Icebreaker Speech. She shared the story of what inspired her career path and why she’s now committed to building her confidence as a public speaker. Such courage and authenticity—well done, Jo!

💬 We also enjoyed two inspiring speeches:
• Lizl spoke about what drives people to succeed, offering reflections that truly made us think.
• Elizabeth shared a touching message about the ripple effect of Toastmasters—how one person’s growth can inspire many others.

Every week, our club feels more like a supportive family. ❤️
Thank you to everyone who participated, cheered, learned, and encouraged each other.

Looking forward to more growth, laughter, and great stories together! 🌟

Triple Crown Celebration & Spontaneous Speeches! 🎉

Today,we started by celebrating our amazing members Mark and Deb, who received the Triple Crown Award 👑 — a recognition for completing three educational achievements within one Toastmasters year. Congratulations on your dedication and growth! 👏

Our Word of the Day was Spontaneous, which inspired three spontaneous and heartfelt speeches:
💪 One speaker shared Outside strong and inside focus — you can always succeed, reminding us of the power of inner strength and determination.
🧭 Another shared personal stories connected to Stonehenge and her time in the Girl Guides, bringing the audience into her own memories and reflections.
🏕️ The last speaker explored the idea of Next step and left us with a question to reflect on: do we tend to move “backward — do nothing,” “forward — do too much,” or should we simply take the next proper step?

Our Table Topics session centered on Halloween 🎃 — a lively discussion about its origins, cultural meanings, and everyone’s personal perspectives on the celebration.

👏 Congratulations to our new member Robbie, who won Best Table Topic Speaker with his spontaneous and engaging response!

What about you? Do you celebrate Halloween or prefer not to?

🌟 A Creative and Joyful Toastmasters Meeting!

Today’s Table Topics session was truly unique and inspiring! Table topics were introduced through fun and vivid scenarios, making it easier to understand and respond with creativity and confidence.

The Best Table Topics award went to Hasnaa, our recent Humorous Speech Contest medalist! 🎖️ She skillfully turned her topic into a mini humorous speech that had everyone laughing out loud. Our Table Topics Evaluator playfully reminded her not to make us laugh too hard — the laughter was so loud that we almost missed the rest of her story! 😂

Besides the three hilarious Table Topics, we also had three amazing prepared speeches. Interestingly, everyone seemed to choose humor today, keeping the room filled with laughter from start to finish! 🤭

From humorous Table Topics to inspiring prepared speeches, every part of today’s meeting kept the energy high and the audience fully engaged. Looking forward to our next meeting!

✨ A Poised and Inspiring Meeting at One Hour
Toastmasters

Our Toastmaster of the day, hosting for the first time, stayed poised and adjusted the program on the spot — even creating four spontaneous topics inspired by the prepared speeches. Truly impressive! 👏

All three speeches were engaging and meaningful:
📘 The first speaker, a writer, showed us how the cover of her new book, The adventures of the Rainbow Hunters, was created step by step — If the cover catches your eye, don’t forget to read the book!
👩‍👧 The second speaker, a mother, shared how Toastmasters gave her the confidence to win the school board vote— if you’re interested in joining the school board, come and learn with us! 🎉
😄 The third speaker had everyone laughing, sharing three life lessons from her unique Covid experience — if you’d like to hear those lessons, join us next time!

Our impromptu session followed these themes, and the Best Table Topic went to our guest Robbie — congratulations! 🏆

We also learned something new today: evaluations can be interactive, inviting the audience to contribute ideas — what a creative approach to shared learning!

A big thank-you to our Area Director for visiting and congratulating Hasnaa on her Humorous Speech Contest achievement. 🎉

Highlights from Wednesday’s Meeting 🌟

This Wednesday, Hasnaa took the role of Toastmaster of the Day. She even worked in a special 10-minute break for snacks 🍪—bringing back a tradition we used to enjoy before Covid during our lunch hour meetings. It was such a nice way to reconnect over food and conversation!

Congratulations to Sumari, who won the Table Topics Speaker of the Day award 🏆.

Thank you to everyone who made the meeting engaging and memorable. We look forward to seeing you online at the next session!
