How can we better support children in managing screen time?

Today, 16 June 2026, we successfully held a parent workshop at Albany Village Library.

Together with parents, we explored what our real concerns are when it comes to children’s screen time, and what changes we can make to better support our children.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared in this meaningful conversation.

Follow us as we continue to support families through connection, growth, and thoughtful guidance.

Kids’ Flea Market is a community education project that Families Growth and Thrive Charitable Trust has been running continuously for seven years.

Held once every school term, each market involves a great deal of preparation behind the scenes — organisation, communication with families, venue arrangements, teen volunteer training, and on-site safety support.

It is not just a place for children to set up stalls and sell things. It is a safe, well-organised and ongoing growth platform where children can practise communication, confidence, self-expression and community participation.

We warmly welcome community groups, schools and parent networks to help promote and support this project. We also welcome organisations who are interested in working with us to explore how this high-quality, well-structured community project can be brought to more local communities, providing ongoing support for more migrant families and children.

Our Screen Smart Parenting workshop was a great success Mairangi Arts Centre

Over 90 minutes, parents came together to learn and discuss what our most important role is when supporting children in a digital world.

The conversation went beyond screen time. We explored family relationships, communication, boundaries, emotional connection, and how parents can better support children to grow with confidence and self-management.

Thank you to everyone who joined and shared so openly. Together, we keep learning and growing with our children.
