What happens when cultural celebration, family participation and volunteer spirit come together?
On 19 September, more than 400 people joined us for the LIFTa Moon Festival – Free Family Cultural Day, creating a joyful celebration of culture, connection and belonging.
In less than three weeks, the LIFTa team and our community partners planned, coordinated and delivered:
- More than 13 sponsors and supporting organisations
- Over 25 volunteers and two dedicated training sessions
- More than 10 interactive family activities
- Four wonderful cultural performances
- Lunch and festive treats for more than 150 families
Children followed the Scavenger Hunt map, completed challenges, collected stamps and explored culture through play. Families spent meaningful time together, while our volunteers welcomed and supported everyone throughout the day.
Our sincere thanks to Mairangi Arts Centre for its generous venue support, and to Hibiscus and Bays Local Board Chair Alexis Poppelbaum - Hibiscus and Bays Local Board for joining us and speaking at the opening.
Thank you also to the young performers from Browns Bay School Browns Bay School & PTA and Xiao He Shi Yun Chinese Cultural Class, and to every sponsor, community partner, volunteer and participating family who helped make this celebration possible.
