Update 09:38pm, 29th July 2025 Heavy Rain Warning- Orange and Strong Wind Watch - Yellow
Kia Ora Auckland, MetService New Zealand has updated both the Heavy Rain Warning and the Strong Wind Watch for the Auckland region, including the Great Barrier.
Heavy Rain warning is effective 5hrs from 8:00pm Tuesday, 29th July to 1:00am Wednesday 30th July
Strong Wind Watch effective 4hrs from 8:00pm Tuesday 29th July to 12:00am Wednesday 30th July
🌧️A front moving east across the country is expected to bring heavy rain and strong north to northeast winds to several places. People are advised to keep up to date with the latest Warnings and Watches and check for additions and upgrades.
Some areas could see heavy downpours. If these downpours eventuate, it could lead to surface flooding.
Here are a few simple ways to be prepared:

✅Plan your journey with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi - Auckland, avoid low-lying areas and drive cautiously if you do need to travel. https://www.journeys.nzta.govt.nz/journey-planner
✅Secure outdoor furniture, bins and loose items in your back yard.
✅Check and clear your drains and gutters of leaves to prepare for rain.
✅Report blocked stormwater drains and flooding to Auckland Council on 09 301 0101.
