Libraries in Gaza : This Friday at our Centre
- we are joining our friends at Justice for Palestine and Songs of Solidarity
- to provide a Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland location for those registered for the online writing workshop: “Libraries in Gaza: Exploring What These Spaces Mean to the Palestinian People”.

- Shahd Alnaami will join us live from Gaza to facilitate this workshop, which includes gentle writing prompts inviting participants to reflect on their own relationships with books, memory, and the spaces that shape who we are. No previous writing experience necessary.

- In-person event: Friday, July 3rd, 7–9pm at 115 Taranaki Street, Pōneke Wellington

- Auckland gathering: We’re opening Whānau Community Hub, 165 Stoddard Road, Mount Roskill, for those registered online who’d like to gather collectively in person. Just show your ticket at the door.

- Tickets: Sliding scale—pay what you can, purchase a ticket for a friend, or pay it forward. All proceeds go directly to Shahd in Gaza. Link in bio.

About this event:

- This session reflects on libraries not merely as buildings filled with books, but as spaces of knowledge, memory, imagination, and community.
- Through stories, discussion, and reflective writing, participants will explore what libraries have meant to people in Gaza as places of learning, refuge, connection, and hope. ✨✨

- The workshop acknowledges the intentional destruction of Gaza’s libraries and the devastating loss of generations of cultural and intellectual heritage, while also celebrating how these spaces continue to shine as beacons of light, even amid devastation and displacement.💛
