There are seven basic rules of firearm safety.

Rule 1 Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2 Always point fi****ms in a safe direction
Rule 3 Chamber a cartridge only when ready to fire
Rule 4 Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5 Check your firing zone
Rule 6 Store and transport fi****ms and ammunition safely
Rule 7 Avoid alcohol or drugs when handling fi****ms

For the Pistol Club shooting, there are some extra cautions in the club.

1 Only put your finger in the trigger guide when you point the target and ready to shoot.
2 Follow your Range Officer's command all the time.
3 No joke for any target or behavior relating to shooting someone or something - it is NOT funny.
4 No ammo handling in the safety zone.

Welcome to Howick Pistol Club.

For new shooters: Pistol Shooting is fun and safe provided if you may learn and follow some rules. HPC opens to new shooters at 7 pm every Tuesday.
No previous experience/firearm license is required, however we strongly recommend you to read and understand the Safety Code of Firearm from the Police website.
No booking is required. Just pop in at 6:40pm every Tuesday and introduce yourself. Your introduction shooting will cost you $40 and you may shoot 50 round .22 rimfire rounds from a real pistol!

A minimum 3 Club Shootings must be conducted before we may accept your application to join the club.

At the Club you may shoot from .22lr to .45acp. However, all the new shooters have to be properly trained and tested before they could shoot center fire pistol in the club.

It takes a minimum 12 pistol shootings and at least 6 months for any new shooter to apply a firearm license with a Pistol Club endorsement (B Cat). However please expect longer time to obtain it.
