Rainbow Path is an advocacy and peer support group for the rights of LGBTQIA+ refugees and asylum seekers living in Aotearoa New Zealand. We do advocacy work on our human rights, and increase allies’ awareness of the issues we face and builds support for changes to laws, policies and practice

s. For more information, please visit our website https://rainbowpathnz.com/ or contact us through [email protected]. We mostly work on voluntary basis, so it may take us a few days to respond. Please note, we are not lawyers or immigration advisors. We cannot represent or advise anyone about their asylum claim or influence the decision made about your case. We can refer you to a lawyer for that advice, and we help in other ways so you can focus on your claim. We can only help people who are already in New Zealand. If you are an asylum seeker from overseas, this ORAM factsheet (https://oramrefugee.org/qa-for-asylum-seekers-refugees/) contains basic information for anyone considering leaving their country to escape persecution. Rainbow Railroad (https://www.rainbowrailroad.org/), based in Canada, supports some Rainbow activists to leave their country to escape from violence. This UNHCR website (https://help.unhcr.org/) gives information on asylum procedures and support available in many countries overseas.

Israel is deploying the same deadly playbook it used in 2024 in Lebanon to kill dozens of health workers and devastate healthcare services.

Healthcare workers are risking their lives to save others. Under international humanitarian law, hospitals, medical facilities, and ambulances are protected and cannot be treated as targets. Unproven accusations about military use do not strip them of protection. Doctors, nurses, and paramedics cannot be targeted based on affiliation with a political party that has a military wing, and attacking them may amount to war crimes.

Protecting healthcare is not optional — it is a binding rule of war.

A huge thank you to the people who have been donating to Rainbow Path. 😊🌈 We don't know if you would prefer to be anonymous so have not named you here. Your donations will go to our emergency fund, for example to cover emergency costs for asylum seekers before they can access a WINZ benefit. Rainbow Path is now a registered charity - please email us if you would like a receipt for claiming a tax credit for your donation.

Furniture needed: We are looking for furniture for two new asylum seekers in Auckland. They move into a place next weekend and the only furniture they have so far is their bed. If you have a couch, any tables, chairs, a set of drawers or any other furniture to donate, please email us on [email protected]. A photo and dimensions really helps us figure out if the furniture will fit in their place, and what size car we will need to transport it.
