Meditation has two aspects: analytical meditation and resting meditation. Analytical meditation is to reflect on and familiarize
oneself with the teachings in daily life.
Resting meditation is to let go of all thoughts in a quiet environment and rest in the meaning of the Dharma.

A man fleeing from a tiger climbs into a well and clings to a root. But two mice begin gnawing at it, while a deadly creature waits below.

Then a few drops of honey fall. Captivated by their sweetness, he forgets the danger around him.

In this ancient Buddhist parable, the black and white mice represent night and day, constantly wearing away at our lives. The honey represents the temporary pleasures that distract us, while the creature below represents death.

Life is passing, even when we forget that it is.

Q: I do daily practice and many good deeds, but my health is still poor. How should I understand this?
A: Reciting practices and doing good deeds do not cause illness. According to the Diamond Sutra, it may be that heavy past karma is now ripening as lighter consequences.
