Mālō tau lava,

This Tongan Language Week, we celebrate Lea Faka-Tonga and acknowledge the richness of Tongan culture, identity, and heritage (as we do with all our PLW’s in 2026). It is a privilege to honour a language that carries the values and traditions of generations.

Swipe to learn some phrases in Lea Fakatonga you can use daily 💪🏽🇹🇴

Happy ‘Epetoma o te reo Māori Kūki ‘Airani - Cook Islands Māori Language Week 🇨🇰

With the mini Pacific Language week programmes we’ve been running in 2026 we’re gonna pop up a few language posters in the Youth Space to deliver a challenge in the works for our IG/FB & TikTok. So keep an eye out for something special in the next couple of weeks for August 🙂‍↕️😜🎉

Hint: start memorising our PLW prompts in these promos 🤝

Ngā mihi nui East Health Trust PHO for coming into the Youth Space today and spending some time with our rangatahi 🤩 (hon mention to Naadirah and Geo for their support) 🫡 It was brilliant seeing how engaged and curious everyone was about their healthcare options and the questions they had about accessing the right support.

If you missed out on today don’t worry! East Health Trust still wants to hear from you and they’ll be back in the YS on the 5th, 8th and 12th of August! They’re developing health information for young people from right here in East Auckland and want to make sure it’s relevant to you, easy to understand, and accessible. So come get a pizza and share your thoughts? Haere mai 🫵🥰

East Health Trust wants to hear from you! They are developing health information for young people and want to make sure it's relevant, easy to understand, and actually useful. Before they finalise it, they would love your feedback.

Come along to:
• Review their draft flyer.
• Share your ideas on how they can improve it.
• Take part in their interactive "Did You Know?" activity to help them understand what young people already know about health services.
Did you know...
You can enrol with the GP clinic of your choice when you turn 16?
People under 22 can access free sexual health advice.

🍕 As a thank you, enjoy a slice of pizza while you share your thoughts!

What's on this week? Have a look through what we're activating in the space this week and what programmes we might have around the community!

Slide 2: this Saturday 25th of July here at Te Taiwhanga Taiohi join US and help turn this wall in the back into a growing artwork made by the rangatahi who use it. Create with texture, colour, wool, and upcycled CD cases.

Add your woven square, have your Polaroid added, and leave a piece of yourself in the space. No perfect art. No pressure. Just a space to create, chill, and be part of something.

This event is facilitated and created by the talented and wonderful 🤌 see you THEN!!!

Slide 3: At Te Tuhi this Saturday 12pm – 3pm, a gorgeous group of our rainbow kaitiaki will be available to have a chat with any youngsters who so desire.

Whether you want to ask about something specific, be regaled with an outrageous anecdote, or maybe you’ve just never met an older rainbow person before - whatever your vibe, this installation is bound to be a wholesome, positive experience for all.

So swing by the cosy lounge space and soak up some wisdom, have a giggle and spend a little bit of quality time with an absolutely golden oldie. We can’t wait to kōrero with you. Participation with this project is completely free.

This event is created in collaboration with Tuhi and 🏳️‍🌈

Slide 4: Te Taiwhanga Taiohi is excited to celebrate Vanuatu Bislama Language Week 2026 by recognising the language, culture and identity of the Ni-Vanuatu community.

This week is all about bringing young people together to learn a few words of Bislama, explore Vanuatu's rich music and values that make the culture so vibrant.

Join us as here at the Youth Space as we learn and celebrate the diversity that makes our community a community.
