Hi VDDNZ team and followers. All of the vom Makuri G litter pups are progressing well and are now 5 months old. Many of them have gone to homes where big game hunting is the focus. Here are a couple of the highlights in training these versatile dogs for this type of hunting situation. Arko’s legs are still too short to make it to the Wanaka tops through the thick scrub while scouting for the big stags for the roar. Xander has trained him to hitch a lift in his pack and he is completely comfortable being part of the team without struggling in the steep stuff. Rocky and Ryan are enjoying getting some experience amongst the fresh sign in the Dunedin hills. Rocky is showing some early promise and supreme control with no long line is sight. It wont take too many animal contacts for these dogs to mature into great hunters.

Hi VDDNZ team. All 10 of the G litter pups have now gone to great hunting homes from Northland to Wanaka. We will keep you updated on some highlights of their progress on this page. We plan another litter from a different bitch later this year. We already have a substantial list of interested hunters for these pups. Send us a note to register your interest if you are also keen.

Hi team. There are still 3 beautiful boys left in the Vom Makuri G litter at 13 weeks old looking for a home. They will be great companions and hunting mates and are showing promise to be able to play a significant role in the upcoming gamebird season. Their 6 littermates already out in their new homes have settled in well and are showing great promise. Here are a couple of photos and videos of the 3 puppies up for consideration. If you are interested in finding out more give Dave Malcolm a call on 0274879002. Please share this with your contacts.

An update on Franceska's puppies at 11 weeks old. There are still a couple of stunning males looking for a home from this litter. These puppies are laid back and extremely calm, well socialised to people and used to being inside the house without any dramas. They are respectful to the cat and are largely house trained. They are well used to travelling in a vehicle and are being exposed to the hunting environment daily. They are showing all the signs of being excellent hunters that their genetics determine. They will be ready to take part in the upcoming waterfowl and roar seasons. Here are 2 of their littermates Gigi and Glory at home base with Chris in the Manawatu showing their potential in the water at their second exposure at only 11 weeks of age.

Franceska's pups are doing well. Now 8 weeks old. Super chilled and relaxed and showing some great hunting instincts like their parents. Several top hunting homes confirmed, especially with deer stalkers and big game hunters this time. Still a couple of stunning boys available.

Update on Franceska’s Deutsch Drahthaar Puppies
4 weeks old today and started on solid food over the last couple of days. Bit of a scramble for mum to feed 10 pups off 7 teats, there is a fair bit of manual shuffling by a human assistant to shift the bulldozers out and give the smaller ones a decent feed. But you can see that they are doing well and not lacking for food! Starting to look like real dogs now with some individual personalities developing. There are still some options available on a couple of boys if you are interested.

Hi VDDNZ team. An update on Franceska’s puppies that are now approaching 3 weeks old. They are doing very well despite there being more puppies than ni***es! There are still a couple of males available for discussion.

Hi VDDNZ team. It has been a rough couple of days with some good news and some bad news. Franceska delivered 10 lovely puppies on Friday, 8 boys and 2 girls. Senta was due on Monday and after some concerns was taken to the vet where it was found that her pups had died in utero. A major disappointment for us all, and a few tears were shed. We have had several registrations of interest from potential owners and will make contact with all of them over the next few days. Please notify us if you also are interested. But please be aware that owning a Deutsch Drahthaar comes with some extra responsibilities regarding attending formal training sessions, attending formal performance assessment sessions, hunting them regularly, and potentially participating in a breeding programme if your dog passes the JGHV evaluations.
Puppies will be available to selected hunters but we are now oversubscribed.
Note that the white colouration on Franceska’s pups in the video will rapidly change to the liver tick shown on her mother.

UPDATE - EXCITING NEWS – Deutsch Drahthaar Puppies On The Way! The Ultimate Versatile Hunting Dog

Both pregnancies are going well. An update for the upland game hunters with a few more photos of pheasant hunting with Franceska (Willow) and Senta. Both dogs hold a stunning point with time to put the gun down, take a photo, put the phone away, pick up the gun, flush and shoot the bird.

EXCITING NEWS – Deutsch Drahthaar Puppies On The Way! The Ultimate Versatile Hunting Dog
After 3 years of no breeding activity, despite several attempts, VDDNZ is delighted to announce the confirmed pregnancy of 2 bi***es.
They are Senta vom Falkenberg (Senta) and her daughter Franceska vom Makuri (Willow), both in pup to Baxter vom Makuri. All 3 of these dogs have proven very competent in the JGHV performance assessment protocols VJP and HZP and are accomplished hunting dogs.
Both litters are due late October and pups will hopefully be available early in the New Year to hunters willing to participate in the VDDNZ training, performance assessment, and breeding programme.
Expressions of interest are invited through this website or to Chris Pullar at 0211924388 or [email protected].
Further information will be made available in the coming weeks on the parents, the VDDNZ performance testing programme, and our expectations of a potential Deutsch Drahthaar owner. But as a taster here are a couple of videos of Franceska working at 1 year old.
