Dear whoever is interested
Some time ago I made it known I was intending to explore the possibility of re-publishing the original Keown Family Tree that I created back in the 1980’s.
Well, I have done that and copies are now available. These are on good quality paper, and should be more light-fast and durable than the originals.
These copies are scanned from the original that I hand drew, so are identical in every way. I make no great claims that they are error free, as most of my original manuscript was based on information direct from family members themselves.
Back in the day, I had to decide whether I should go on researching indefinitely and no-0ne would get to see the results, maybe forever! Or to settle for what I had at the time and get it out there so people could use it. They could correct and add to it as they liked and as new generations of information appeared with time.
Nowadays, it appears very limited, but I reprint it as a useful guide for people, particularly younger people, to become informed of the general family structure in a simple, easy to reference form.
The cost, there has to be one, is nine dollars a copy plus postage. The postage I cannot be sure of, as I haven’t as yet sussed out courier costs, or how to even wrap them. They would have to be rolled, and they are quite wide.
If you are interested, please let me know so I can get an idea what the demand is likely to be.
As a matter of interest, when I published the first edition back in the early eighties, I initially printed half a dozen copies thinking: one for me, one for Mum and Dad, one for my sister, and a couple of spares in case someone else was interested ... I stopped counting at two-hundred and fifty. From a project intended to satisfy my own curiousity, it certainly revealed a desire amoung the wider family for information, of which there was a very definite lack. I found I was packing and posting to destinations in many parts of the world.
So ... feedback, please ...
Regards to all you out there who have to continually spell, correct, and re-spell their name,
Wallace Keown
