Blue Diamond Society (BDS) is an NGO working in the field of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment and the promotion of human rights for s*xual and gender minorities in Nepal. BDS is going to accelerate implementation of s*xualized drug use (SDU) and Chems*x- related awareness raising, counseling, prevention and linkages to treatment services to demonstrate marked improvements in HIV prevention among key population groups like gay, bis*xual and other men who have s*x with men (MSM) and transgender (TG) people including the larger s*xual and gender minorities community and linkages to HIV/STI prevention to treatment and harm reduction services. BDS announces vacancy for following position:
(A) Position: Drop-In-Center (DIC) Operator
No of staff needed: 03 (One for each of the following districts)
Districts: Kathmandu, Parsa, Rupandehi
Job Summary:
DIC operator is primarily responsible for the registration of the service receivers coming to the DIC and providing service receiver-friendly, comfortable, informative and interesting waiting hall.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Reception of the service receiver at the DIC and registration
2. Obtain and maintain information from the service receiver like their name, age, address and other project related key information
Make an assurance of service receiver-friendly throughout the gender spectrum, human-rights based, s*x-positive, comfortable, informative and interesting waiting hall; by providing waiting service receivers with reading materials like: newspaper, magazines, IEC materials, SBC materials. Along with reading materials provide service receivers with different informative games
Provide audio, visuals for the service receivers to enhance their knowledge regarding SDU, Chems*x, prevention and management of HIV/AIDS, STI, ART, U=U, harm reduction and other health related matters
Screen the service receivers for the involvement in SDU and/or Chems*x and provide/ link to appropriate services like HIV prevention/treatment/support services or harm reduction
Coordinate with key stakeholders like local CBOs, ART centers, police force and conduct timely interaction and knowledge sharing sessions
Manage and supervise the work of the outreach workers and peer educator for the outreach services and linkages to services
8. Maintain entry register and service receiver’s information alongside the work information of the outreach workers and peer educators
9. Keep records of the financial vouchers of expenditures alongside tracking the expenses against budgeted activities
10. Support the service receiver to the referral sites if required and maintain a referral directory
11. Document and develop success stories related project activities
12. Submit a monthly report of the project activities against set indicators to the supervisor
13. Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
Job Requirements:
Completed +2/high school level of education
Proficient in preparing monthly/semi-annual project reports and documentation of good case practices, maintenance of financial records
Has a good computer knowledge and skills especially in MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-Power Point
At least two years of prior work experience in field of counseling, human resource management, service delivery or related scope of work
Previous experience of working with MSM/TG community and within the issues of HIV/AIDS will be an advantage
Demonstrated leadership in a diverse team in previous work engagement
Flexible working in off-hours (beyond standard office time) based on the working areas and availability of KPs to provide services as needed
(B) Position: Outreach Worker
No of staff needed: 03 (One for each of the following districts)
Districts: Kathmandu, Parsa, Rupandehi
Job Summary:
Outreach worker is primarily responsible for providing information and knowledge regarding SDU and/or Chems*x to the key populations like MSM/TG including the larger LGBTQIA+ community in the field and linking them to the DIC for attainment of appropriate services and referral.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct one-on-one educational contacts and small group educational contacts. Provide education for harm reduction and HIV risk management (management of SDU and/or Chems*x, partner reduction, correct and consistent condom use and use of condom compatible lubricant among MSM, PrEP, appropriate treatment services) HIV testing and STIs check-up based on need and on risk assessment
During the counselling session make use of audio, visuals to enhance the knowledge of the service receivers regarding SDU and/or Chems*x, HIV/AIDS, STIs and other health related matters
3. Obtain and maintain information from the service receiver like their name, age, address and other project related key information and maintain a record of the services provided during the outreach session in prescribed forms and formats
Screen the service receivers for the involvement in SDU and/or Chems*x and provide/ link to appropriate services
Promote condom use, provide condom negotiation skills, protection from facing/perpetuating violence in the setting of SDU, dual protection through PrEP use, ART related education including U=U
Conduct follow-up visits, and provide risk-reduction education for anyone who has SDU related issues, and provide prevention education along with referral and linkages to HIV care & treatment and harm reduction services
Coordinate with local CBOs and stakeholders engaged in HIV/AIDS and harm reductions
Provide support to the DIC operator to conduct necessary community events and interactions
Document and develop success stories related project activities through support from DIC operator
Assist the DIC to submit a monthly report of the project activities
Other responsibilities as assigned by the DIC Operator
Job Requirements:
Completed SLC/SEE level of education
Proficient in preparing field reports and documentation of outreach activities
Previous experience of working with MSM/TG community and on the issues of HIV/AIDS will be an advantage
Computer knowledge and skills will also be preferred
Flexible working in off-hours (beyond standard office time) based on the working areas and availability of KPs to provide services as needed
(C) Position: Peer Educator (part-time engagement)
No of staff needed: 06 (Two for each of the following districts)
Districts: Kathmandu, Parsa, Rupandehi
Job Summary:
Peer educator is primarily responsible for providing information and knowledge regarding SDU and/or Chems*x to the key populations like MSM/TG including the larger LGBTQIA+ community in the field and linking them to the DIC for attainment of appropriate services and referral.
Key Responsibilities:
