Emergency Relief - Water for Everyone Project , Madhesh province.

HEARD Nepal, with the generous support of LDSC, has initiated the distribution of safe and clean drinking water in Bode Barsain-3, Saptari, reaching 900 households. Each household will be provided with 400 litres of safe drinking water and a water-holding drum, along with WASH awareness activities to promote safe water, sanitation, and hygiene practices.

This effort is part of our ongoing commitment to ensure that every family has access to clean and safe water, especially in times of urgent need. Together, we are not only addressing immediate challenges but also fostering resilience and wellbeing in the community.

We successfully conducted a Health Education Program on Nutrition at an orphanage in Budhanilkantha, focusing on promoting healthy eating habits and hygiene among children. The program included sessions on nutrition basics, food pyramid, identifying healthy vs unhealthy foods and habits, proper handwashing with demonstration, and fun interactive games with Q&A. A healthy meal was also demonstrated and distributed, which included kheer and achar. To support long-term impact, we provided a practical weekly meal plan to the orphanage. The children actively participated, making the session both impactful and heartwarming.

Building Resilience Starts Young! 🏆

HEARD Nepal recently conducted a One-Day Orientation Program on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) across six schools of Barju Rural Municipality, Sunari Reaching over 600 students with vital knowledge and practical skills.

💡 The sessions focused on:

Understanding disaster risks in the local context

Safety precautions during monsoon rains and potential floods

Practical preventive measures while commuting to and from school

Encouraging knowledge sharing, group interactions, and creative idea exchange on DRR

👨‍🎓👩‍🎓 By engaging students through interactive discussions and school-based learning, we aimed to empower the next generation to become safety champions within their homes, schools, and communities.

💬 DRR education at an early age fosters preparedness, confidence, and community-wide resilience—especially in disaster-prone areas like Barju RM.

A heartfelt thank you to the participating schools, local authorities, and facilitators who supported this important initiative.

🌟 Empowering Communities through Street Drama 🌟

From June 25 to 28, 2025, HEARD Nepal successfully organized a series of street drama performances in four locations of Barju Rural Municipality as part of our ongoing MNCH (Maternal, Newborn & Child Health) Awareness Program.

🎭 These performances brought real-life stories to life—highlighting crucial topics like:

Pregnancy care & childbirth complications, Newborn care & exclusive breastfeeding, Family planning & nutrition,
Child marriage

The importance of ANC/PNC checkups, institutional deliveries, immunization, and hygiene
Each drama was followed by interactive community sessions led by health workers and facilitators—creating a safe space for open dialogue, questions, and deeper understanding. We also distributed IEC materials (brochures & leaflets) to reinforce key health messages.

The program not only raised awareness and challenged harmful practices, but also helped strengthen trust between communities and the health system.

📚 Fostering Inclusive Education in Rural Nepal 🎒🖋️

We’re proud to share the successful implementation of the FINE Nepal Project in Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality, Dhankuta, Koshi Province on 8th June 2025, an initiative dedicated to uplifting education for marginalized and diverse communities.

This impactful program is generously supported by Jeju Youth Buddhist Community (JYBC), Republic of Korea and Global Inner Peace Korea, under the project title:
"Fostering Inclusive Education for Marginalized and Diverse Communities in Nepal (FINE Nepal)."

🔑 Key Highlights:
✅ A year round support to 32 students: full set of notebooks, uniforms, shoes, socks, & belt
✅ Identification & enrollment of children from ultra-poor, disadvantaged, orphan and semi-orphan backgrounds
✅ Provision of quality education & distribution appropriate learning materials
✅ Distribution of essential supplies: pens, pencils, color pencils, erasers, school bags, and more
✅ Strong focus on parent and community engagement
✅ Emphasis on child nutrition and overall wellbeing
