BCN Pokhara Branch Bird Conservation Nepal As a result, we are the foremost scientific authority providing accurate information on birds and their habitats throughout Nepal.

Established in 1982, Bird Conservation Nepal (BCN) is the leading organisation in Nepal, focusing on the conservation of birds, their habitats and sites. It seeks to promote interest in birds amongst the general public, encourage research on birds and identify major threats to birds' continued survival. We provide scientific data and expertise on birds for the Government of Nepal through the Depar

tment of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC) and work closely in birds and biodiversity conservation throughout the country. BCN is a membership based organisation with a Founder President, patrons, life members, friends of BCN and several supporters. Our membership provides strength to the society and is drawn from people of all walks of life from students, professionals and conservationists. Our members act collectively to set the organisation's strategic agenda. We are commited to showing the value of birds and their special relationship with people. As such, we strongly advocate the need for peoples' participation as future stewards to attain long-term conservation goals. As the Nepalese Partner of BirdLife International, a network of more than 110 organisations around the world, BCN also works on a worldwide agenda to conserve the world's birds and their habitats.

We successfully completed an insightful session on โ€œeBird, A Tool for Bird Science & Conservationโ€ today on 13th August 2026, at Dean Hall, Institute of Forestry, Pokhara Campus.

looking to spend your morning surrounded by nature and beautiful birds ? Join us for another Saturday Birdwatching. This time, weโ€™re heading to Australian Base Camp (ABC) for a special bird hike where weโ€™ll explore the trail, observe birds and learn more about bird identification, habitat and its conservation.

This is to notify you that Bird Conservation Nepal(BCN)โ€“ Pokhara Branch is looking for enthusiastic and motivated Forestry students from the Institute of Forestry, Pokhara Campus to join the team as executive members.

Criteria:
1. General Member of BCN, Pokhara Branch
2. Must possess strong dedication towards bird conservation and research
3. Must have participated in bird watching and other relevant programs organized by BCN, Pokhara Branch
4. A motivation letter (not more than 400 words) clearly stating your objective for joining BCN Pokhara Branch and your future plans as an Executive Member

Friends of Nature (FON) Nepal invites applications for the Annual Wildlife Research Techniques Training (WRTT) 2026 (19th and 20th event), designed for aspiring Nepalese students and early career researchers interested in wildlife research and conservation. The training combines classroom learning with hands-on field experience.

TRAINING VENUE
Rangbhangโ€“Bhainsegaunda, Syangja

TRAINING SCHEDULE
โ€ข Phase I: 28 September โ€“ 16 October 2026 (12 Ashwin โ€“ 30 Ashwin 2083)
โ€ข Phase II: 15 November โ€“ 3 December 2026 (29 Kartik โ€“ 17 Mangsir 2083)

TRAINING INCLUDES
โ€ข Wildlife research and identification techniques (mammals, birds, butterflies, herpetofauna, and plants)
โ€ข Camera trapping, transect and sign surveys
โ€ข Research design, scientific writing, paper review, and presentation skills
โ€ข GIS, R, Use of AI in wildlife research, bioacoustics, Conservation communication, Data Analysis and Ethno-zoological survey, Experience sharing of the experts
โ€ข Wildlife policies, conservation management, outreach, and research ethics

ELIGIBILITY
Students, graduates, postgraduates, and early career researchers in Zoology, Forestry, Environmental Science/Management/Engineering, Biodiversity, Botany, Natural Resource Management, Veterinary Science, Rural Development, Mass Communication, and related fields.

REQUIREMENTS

โ€ข No prior experience required
โ€ข Good spoken and written English
โ€ข Bring trekking/hiking shoes, a laptop, and binoculars (8*40, 8*42, 10*50)

COMMITMENT
Selected trainees must be willing to work in teams, stay in remote field conditions, and complete a six-month online internship with FON Nepal after the training.

PARTICIPANTS (PER PHASE)
14 participants: 12 Open Competition | 1 Capitation Fee | 1 FON Nepal

FEE & SUPPORT (SELECTED PARTICIPANTS ONLY)
โ€ข Registration Fee: NPR 5,000
โ€ข Capitation Fee: NPR 25,000 (one reserved seat per phase)
โ€ข Four registration-fee scholarships (two per phase; must be applied through online form).
โ€ข FON Nepal provides accommodation, meals, accidental insurance, and shared field equipment.
