We successfully completed the Big Butterfly Count Nepal 2026 at the Institute of Forestry, Pokhara Campus today!

With the participation of 23 enthusiastic participants, we explored the campus premises and documented more than 20 species of butterflies, highlighting the remarkable butterfly diversity found within the campus landscape. The event provided an opportunity to observe, identify and learn about butterflies

Due to the current weather conditions and expected rainfall, the Big Butterfly Count in Pokhara 2026, scheduled for 26 September at the Institute of Forestry, Pokhara Campus, has been postponed until further notice.

Weโ€™re sorry for the change and any inconvenience this may cause. The safety of all participants comes first, and suitable weather is also important for a meaningful butterfly count.

Weโ€™ll share the new date as soon as it is confirmed.

As part of the Big Butterfly Count in Pokhara 2026, participants will be exploring the grounds of the Institute of Forestry, Pokhara, observing and documenting the butterflies around us. And once you capture that perfect shot, donโ€™t let it stay in your camera roll!

1. Download the free iNaturalist app and create your account.
2. Look for and photograph free-living wild butterflies around the campus. ๐“๐š๐ค๐ž ๐ฅ๐จ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐œ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐ซ ๐ฉ๐ก๐จ๐ญ๐จ๐ฌ!
3. Upload your observations through the iNaturalist app or website.
4. Make sure your observations are added to the Big Butterfly Count Nepal project so your sightings can contribute to the collective count.

Observe responsibly, photograph carefully, and let your sightings contribute to butterfly research and citizen science!
