Exchange visit among Rain Communities(RC):
We recently organized an exchange visit for beneficiaries from the Okhle, Deumadi, and Thulakot Rain Communities to visit the inspiring Majkot Rain Community.
Living on hilltops makes water access a unique challenge, but Majkot RC has been efficiently consuming and managing rainwater for over two decades! This visit allowed our communities to witness firsthand how rainwater harvesting can transform life on the hills.
Learning from each other is how we grow stronger!

Majkot RC has been efficiently utilizing rainwater for over 20 years, proving that local, sustainable solutions are the key to overcoming water scarcity on hillsides.
Thank you, Majkot RC, for opening your doors and sharing your invaluable experience with us! 🏔️💧

📢 Workshop Success: Advancing Rainwater Harvesting in Gandaki Province! 💧🏔️
We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our 2-Day Workshop on Rainwater Harvesting (RWH): Advocacy, Policies & Sharing in Pokhara!

The event saw active and enthusiastic participation from the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Water Supply, Gandaki Province. We were deeply honored to have Mr. Devraj Niraula (Secretary) grace the event as our Chief Guest. The workshop was expertly chaired by Mr. Gajendra Singh Pun (Chairperson of Kanchan Nepal).

🎯 Key Objectives Achieved:
Assessed & Shared: Evaluated the current status, practical applications, and pressing challenges of RWH across Nepal.

Raised Awareness: Enhanced understanding among local authorities and stakeholders in the Kaski district regarding the critical importance of rainwater management.

Facilitated Knowledge Exchange: Created a vibrant platform for stakeholders—including government agencies, NGOs, CBOs, and private sector actors—to exchange insights.

Policy Integration: Identified strategic opportunities to seamlessly integrate RWH initiatives into local policies, plans, and future programs.

Fostered Collaboration: Built stronger partnerships to scale up sustainable RWH initiatives moving forward.

👥 A Collaborative Effort
The event brought together over 40 dedicated participants representing 20+ diverse institutions, including government bodies, non-governmental organizations, private agencies, and direct RWH beneficiaries.

The event was organized by Kanchan Nepal in coordination of Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Water Supply, Gandaki Province and supported by International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance - IRHA/ Fédération genevoise de coopération - FGC in Pokhara at Hotel Pauwa, Lakeside.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this workshop a milestone for climate resilience and water security in our communities! 🙌✨

Addressing the diversed geographical challenges of the mid-hills, our minimalistic sanitation units prioritize public health safety through accessible sanitation facilities. These designs ensure that even in remote rain communities, basic hygiene standards are met to prevent the contamination of local water sources and mitigate community-wide health risks. 🌱 Reviving Springs in Nepal’s Mid-Hills 💧

With the active participation of the Okhle Rain Communities, more than 50+ small infiltration ditches have been built upstream of spring sources in Pokhara-28, Kaski.

This simple yet powerful ecological intervention under our Integrated Resources Management of Water and Ecosystem Project is helping recharge groundwater, restore natural springs, and secure water for future generations.

✨ A community-led solution, blending traditional wisdom with ecological resilience, to bring life back to the hills of Nepal. International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance - IRHA
