KarmaTreks and Adventures with Purpose - Nepal KarmaTreks is a Nepal-based organization. We offer adventures with purpose. KarmaFlights is a Nepal-based, non-profit organization.

We believe strongly in each childтАЩs immutable right, to a safe and secure learning environment. In a land famous for its towering peaks and tumultuous rivers, the bright young minds of Nepal are its greatest natural resource. Education, is the key to unlocking that vast potential and solving NepalтАЩs poverty problem. KarmaFlights was founded in 2011, by a small group of adventure athletes, together with visionary local school teacher, Prem Bahadur Kunwar. We initially came together, with the shared objective of providing a safe home, and educational support, for a group of eight at-risk children. From this, KarmaFlights activity has expanded today, to include large-scale emergency disaster relief; long-term kinship and merit scholarships; school, library and computer-lab construction; hydro, solar and road infrastructure support; water, hygiene, livestock, and child-nutrition programs; waste management; earthquake preparedness training; and medical, mental, and dental health camps. These initiatives have saved lives, reduced suffering and extended professional and personal development opportunities to thousands of children. Join us as a volunteer or donor today. Invest in purpose, not for profit.

ЁЯММAstro Camp & Telescope Handover to 10 Dopo Schools: Now, the skies of Dolpa are coming closer. ЁЯФн

In a place where the night sky remains remarkably dark and largely untouched by light pollution, the people of Dolpa have one of the most beautiful natural observatories on Earth above their heads.
And now, for the first time, we are bringing the tools to explore it closer to the young people who live beneath these incredible skies.

KarmaFlights Foundation Nepal and Pokhara Astronomical Society (PAS) have begun a 12-day journey to bring astronomy education, telescope-based sky observation and citizen-science activities to rural schools across Dolpa.

This is our second major astronomy outreach journey in rural Nepal, following the success of our earlier program in Rukum East several years ago.

Our goal is to reach 10 community schools across 6 local governments, travelling through the vast landscapes of Dolpa, along the Karnali River corridor and toward the breathtaking region of Shey Phoksundo Lake.

Yesterday, we have started our тАЬPromoting Astronomy in DolpaтАЭ program from Shree Kalika General and Technical Secondary School, MudkechulaтАУ2, Dolpa. Our sessions introduced students to the basics of astronomy and our place in the universe. We then moved from learning to doingтАФwith hands-on Astro-kit activities, followed by practical lessons on telescope handling.

As the day turned into night, students and teachers had the opportunity to look through the telescope and observe the sky above DolpaтАФa sky made exceptionally special by the absence of city lights.
From the classroom to the cosmos, the journey has begun.
Our telescopes are packed, our team is on the move, and the next school is waiting.

Stay tuned. The skies of Dolpa have much more to reveal. ЁЯММЁЯФн

With support and inspiration from the Royal Astronomical Society.

ЁЯМзя╕П WHEN THE RIVER CAME, WE RESPONDED

KarmaFlights stands with Nisikhola. ЁЯЗ│ЁЯЗ╡тЭдя╕П

While our team was still working on the Bhote Koshi flood response, another disaster struck in Nisikhola, Baglung: days of heavy rain brought floods and landslides. Homes were washed away, others buried. Roads and bridges disappeared, electricity and telephone lines went down, and families fled with whatever they could carry.

The river does not stop at a district boundary.
The landslide does not check which municipality it has entered.
The flood does not ask whether a family lives in Baglung, Rasuwa, Parbat or Myagdi.
It simply comes.

Early reports indicated at least 14 deaths, 179 houses completely destroyed, 28 partially damaged and 295 houses at high risk, affecting around 512 households and 1,684 people.
With Rasuwa already demanding so much attention, it is even harder for communities affected by other disasters to receive the help they need.

тЭдя╕П So we acted.
We could not physically reach Nisikhola ourselves. The roads were blocked. But KarmaFlights found another way.

Because of the trust we have built over many years, local suppliers in Burtibang provided essential supplies on credit. Teachers, community leaders, health workers and local people became our hands on the ground.

The first response reached 65 affected families with:
ЁЯНЪ Rice, lentils, salt & cooking oil
ЁЯПа Tarpaulins & blankets
ЁЯН│ Essential household supplies

The Jhiwakhola Police Post was also badly affected. Seven officers had to leave their damaged post and shelter at the Ward Office. They were still serving the community while facing the same disaster themselves, so we provided them with essential food, shelter and cooking supplies.

The cost of this first response was around NPR 600,000, including relief, transportation and logistics. But the first relief is only the beginning. The need has not gone.

ЁЯЩП Please help us keep responding where communities need us most.

Some glimpses from our recent GESA & MHM sessions

A classroom can be more than a place for lessons. Sometimes, it becomes a space where questions are welcomed, conversations begin, and perspectives slowly change.

Over the past few days, we had the opportunity to spend time with students of Shree Kanya Secondary School and Shree Pardi Secondary School as part of our Gender Equity and Social Action (GESA) and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) sessions.

From thoughtful questions and honest conversations to activities, laughter, and moments of reflection , every session reminded us that meaningful learning doesnтАЩt always happen through textbooks.

We talked, listened, questioned, shared, and learned together ,creating a space where students could explore ideas around gender, equality, dignity, respect, and menstrual health with greater openness.

The goal was not simply to complete a session, but to start conversations that continue beyond the classroom.

A few glimpses from the journey.
Many more conversations to come.

BHOTEKOSHI FLOOD RELIEF PROJECT тАУ THIRD MISSION

The second mission is over. But the need is far from over. тЭдя╕П

When our team returned from Rasuwa, one thing was very clear: relief has helped, but families still need the basics to start rebuilding their lives.

One thing especially stayed with us: families had received food and other emergency supplies, but many still had no proper way to cook. And when the relief vehicles left, the need remained.

The road from relief to recovery is much longer than the first few days of emergency aid.

ThatтАЩs why we are now preparing our THIRD MISSION. This time, we have two goals:

ЁЯПа GOAL 1: FIRST RELIEF for 100 households

We want to provide families in Uttargaya-5, Rasuwa with the basics they need:

ЁЯФе 100 stoves
ЁЯЫвя╕П 100 gas cylinders
ЁЯНЪ 100 ├Ч 25 kg rice

ЁЯОТ GOAL 2: HELPING CHILDREN PICK UP THEIR LIVES AGAIN

The disaster has also deeply affected children's education. Our first goal is to support the 360 children of Shree Nilkantha Secondary School in Uttargaya-5, Rasuwa with essential winter and school supplies. If funding allows, we want to reach all 481 students in the four community schools in Uttargaya-5.

ЁЯзе Winter jacket
ЁЯСЯ Shoes
ЁЯзж Warm socks
ЁЯОТ School & educational support
ЁЯз╝ Hygiene essentials

YOU CAN HELP MAKE THIS MISSION HAPPEN

тЭдя╕П $70 supports 1 household
1 stove + 1 gas cylinder + 25 kg rice

тЭдя╕П $40 supports 1 child
A winter jacket + shoes + warm socks + educational/scholarship support

These are examples of what your donation can make possible. Every $40. Every $70. Every donation adds up. And of course, every amount is welcome, even a smaller donation can help us get closer to reaching more families and children. тЭдя╕П

ЁЯЩП Please help us take this third mission to Rasuwa, and help families and children move from emergency relief towards rebuilding their lives.

During the program, KarmaFlights presented an overview of our organization, the programs and activities completed during FY 2082/083, and our upcoming plans and programs for FY 2083/084.

Three members from the KarmaFlights team attended the program, with Mr. Prem Bahadur Kunwar presenting on behalf of KarmaFlights.

It was a valuable opportunity to share our work, learn from other organizations, and receive feedback and suggestions from the review program.

We are grateful for the feedback received and will continue working to improve the areas where we can do better in the coming days.

It was a meaningful and productive experience to be part of this program. We look forward to strengthening our work and contributing even more to the communities we serve.

2,000 Jackets. One Warm Future.

Our Karma Flights Foundation team recently visited the jacket factory as our winter jacket distribution program gets underway.

We are preparing 2,000 warm jackets for children from high-altitude, remote communities and flood-affected families across Nepal.

The jackets are now being prepared and will be distributed next week. For many of these children, a warm jacket means more than protection from the coldтАФit means comfort, dignity, and the chance to continue their education through the winter.

We stand with these children today, and we stand with their future. ЁЯЩПЁЯЗ│ЁЯЗ╡
