🕊️ Farewell, Our Beloved Yukta

Gandaki Alpine Club bids a final farewell to our beloved Treasurer, Mr. Pur Bahadur Gurung “Yukta”.

With hearts broken and tears in our eyes, we gather to say goodbye as his final journey begins at Swayambhu, Kathmandu, following the sacred rituals of his homeland.

Yukta was more than a Treasurer of our Club. He was a respected mountain guide, an experienced mountaineer, a dear friend, and a brother to many in Nepal’s climbing community. His dedication to the mountains, his humble nature, warm smile, and willingness to stand beside his friends will remain deeply etched in our hearts.

The mountains took one of our own, but they cannot take away the memories, friendship, courage, and legacy he leaves behind.

Today, we do not simply say goodbye. We bow our heads in gratitude for having shared part of this journey with you.

Rest peacefully, dear Yukta.
May your journey onward be peaceful and luminous.
May you find eternal peace in the embrace of the Himalayas.

You will forever remain a part of the Gandaki Alpine Club family and in the hearts of all who knew you.

🕊️ A Tribute from Gandaki Alpine Club

With Profound Grief and Endless Respect

It is with broken hearts that Gandaki Alpine Club mourns the tragic loss of our beloved Treasurer, Pur Bahadur Gurung (Yukta), in the devastating Broad Peak tragedy in Pakistan.

Today, we also bow our heads in deepest respect to the legendary Nirmal Purja (Nimsdai) and every courageous Sherpa and mountaineer who lost their lives in this heartbreaking disaster. Their unwavering courage, humility, selfless spirit, and extraordinary dedication to the mountains have left an indelible mark on Nepal and the global mountaineering community.

For Gandaki Alpine Club, this loss is deeply personal. Pur Bahadur was far more than our Treasurer—he was our brother, our trusted friend, and a passionate mountaineer whose quiet dedication, warm heart, and unwavering commitment strengthened our club and inspired everyone privileged to know him. His absence leaves an irreplaceable void in our Gandaki Alpine Club family.

We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, relatives, friends, and loved ones of Pur Bahadur Gurung (Yukta), Nirmal Purja (Nimsdai), and all the fallen climbers. No words can ease the pain of such an unimaginable loss, but please know that you are not alone. The entire mountaineering family of Nepal grieves with you and stands beside you during this time of profound sorrow.

Though they may no longer walk among us, their legacy will forever live on—in every summit reached with courage, every life inspired through their example, and every mountain that echoes their footsteps.

May the majestic Himalaya, to which they dedicated their lives, embrace them in eternal peace.

Rest in peace, Pur Bahadur Gurung (Yukta), Nirmal Purja (Nimsdai), and all our fallen brothers.

You climbed with courage. You served with honor. You will be remembered forever.

ब्रड पिकमा गएको हिमपहिरोपछि सम्पर्कविहीन हुनुभएका गण्डकी अल्पाइन क्लबका कोषाध्यक्ष श्री पुर बहादुर गुरुङ (युक्ता) सहित, विश्वप्रसिद्ध नेपाली पर्वतारोही निम्सदाइ (निर्‍मल पुर्जा) तथा यस दुःखद घटनाबाट प्रभावित सम्पूर्ण पर्वतारोहीहरूको खबरले हामी सम्पूर्ण गण्डकी अल्पाइन क्लब परिवार अत्यन्त मर्माहत भएका छौं।

यस अत्यन्त कठिन घडीमा सम्पर्कविहीन सबै पर्वतारोहीहरूको सुरक्षित र चमत्कारिक उद्धार होस् भन्ने कामनासहित हामी सम्पूर्ण हृदयले प्रार्थना गरिरहेका छौं। हिमालले आफ्ना सबै साहसी सन्तानहरूलाई सुरक्षित रूपमा परिवार, साथीभाइ र सम्पूर्ण पर्वतारोहण समुदायको माझ फर्काइदियोस् भन्ने हाम्रो अटल विश्वास र आशा छ।
