FPAN/SIFPO2/USAID, Panchthar aims to increase voluntary use of FP services by increasing accessibility & availability of quality CoFP services to hard to reach, disadvantaged, migrants & adolescent population to achieve universal coverage & increase CYP. eration (IPPF) for implementation of the Support for International Family Planning Organizations (SIFPO-2): Sustainable Networks project. The Family Planning Association of Nepal (FPAN), an IPPF Member Association (MA), is a separate local entity and will serve as the Sustainable Networks’ local implementing partner during the four year period from April 1, 2015–March 31, 2019, in 11 districts of Nepal. The overall objective of The Family Planning Services Strengthening Program (FPSSP) is to strengthen the voluntary family planning service delivery system of the Family Health Division (FHD)/Department of Health Services (DoHS)/Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP). The total area of Panchthar district is 1245903 hector. Its Boundaries:
East – West Bengal and Sikkim
West – Dhankuta and Tehrathum
North – Taplejung
South - Illam
*The majority populations are Kirantis (Limbu, Rais).
*It consist the population of 191817 where 90186 are male and
101631 are female (CBS, 2011).
*Among the total population 43934 are MWRA (Married women of
reproductive age group).
*Majority of the population follow Hindu religion (34.31%) followed by
Buddhist (11.67 %) and Islam (0.03%).
*The literacy rate of Panchthar district is 72.58%, (Male: 80.35%,
Female 65.78%).
*72.2% of the households have male members as the household
head and the remaining 27.28% have female household head.
*Among the total population 29855 males have an ownership over
land and house whereas 11341 female have an ownership.
*Total expected live birth of Panchthar district is 4616.
*Population growth rate of the district is -0.52
Panchthar district’s unmet need is 31.6 and Current CPR is 32.55.
*The trend in the current use of modern contraceptive shows more
inclination towards Injectable (12.55%), Pills (4.78%) followed by
Condom (4.16) and Implant (4.09%)
